Hypercolour offshoot, HypeLTD, return for more stellar underground house business with a super 4 track release from Trikk.

The Portuguese DJ and producer has been bubbling away for the last 24 months, releasing some solid records on labels like Terrain Ahead, Container and Man Make Music.  His HypeLTD debut sees him plunder the roots of underground house with fresh impetus.

‘Midnight Sequence’ is a dark, driving, tour de force, no doubt influenced by fellow Portuguese legends Underground Sound Of Lisbon, with it’s deep bass, air horns and white noise over a deadly drum arrangement.

‘Back To Back’ plunders a similar dark path, shades of London Jungle-ism in this one, whilst ‘Labour 91’ is an altogether more upbeat track, classic Todd Terry-esque rolling drums and Chi-town house cut ups keeps the energy flow.  

Wrapping up the EP is ‘Prime Time’, more on point house business here from Trikk, again with influences clearly in the Windy City variety of house music.

All outstanding productions here from Trikk, with a nice variety of tracks for all persuasions.

Thirty Year Record’s sister label Three Point Oh third release is Criminal Practice’s Beach Party EP. Criminal Practice is a group of young producers and promoters from Kyiv, Ukraine who curate a respected mix series and throw the country’s best house and techno parties. This will be their first release with the Three Point Oh imprint and we couldn’t be more excited to get these summer, lo-fi tinged, house jams out. As with all Three Point Oh releases there will be a very limited number of dubplates cut.

As one of the central figures in the French label/collective, Victor brings his Vicky Rodriguez project with Donny Sanchez (Slikk Tim/Gary Gritness) on the drums & Timpani for MLH’s 8th installment. The 5 track ‘Latin Tools EP’ features dancefloor heaters and no fillers from techy ‘Se Goza’, salsa rhythms of ‘Delincuente’ and NY house-inspired ‘Rito Mariachichi’... all infused with spicy Latin flavors. ‘El Bataso’ closes the zesty EP with beefy basslines, Afro-Latin rhythms, & Bed squeaks and all. Vienna is the city in which label co-founders Stanley Schmidt and DJ Boring met for the first time. This romantic incident caused a cosmic connection, and led to the two producers teaming up and releasing a musical blast on today's scene. Today they present us with the second release spawned from their cooperation: "Smart Replies". The release is an impactful record of well-saturated electro, loose club-friendly sketches, and enlivened ambient soundscapes.

Stanley Schmidt is a very vivid full time musician based in Leipzig who is running two labels, "PH17" and "Rivulet Records" and he's also a popular DJ in the underground scene of Leipzig and Berlin. As a resident DJ at 'Buttons' and regular performances at 'FIER'-parties, his progressive style is ever evolving via exploration through house, techno and electro, which gives him his bold contemporary style. Functioning like collages rather than self-contained songs, Stanley takes various recordings and samples out of their usual context (a well-known drum-break, an odd gabber-Skream-sample, or a computer-voice generated by Google's AI) to form something entirely new.

The original of "Shifting Modernism" opens the A-Side with intense bass and is our Bolting Bits premiere today. A breakneck rhythm with loose euphoric vocals that are interrupted by a celestial synth cumulate into a nice frenetic tune. This opening just increases our appetite for more! The joint with DJ Boring, the remix of "Shifting Modernism", gives the EP an even more diversified sound. The Berlin-based producer manages to fit in his signature style even when working on something that's not his typical sound.  The whole record is full of little surprises and harmonic experiments of different elements. For us, it's a welcome occasion to listen to new inspiring soundscapes.
