Perfectly timed with the opening of the UK nightlife industry, the fifth release on the Milkit label provides a VA compilation of club-ready & emotional cuts. With a focus on breaks and rave nostalgia, the release comprises of works from exclusively Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish artists.

Artist:
As an experimental producer, label owner and mastering engineer, Kevin Halliday has his creative fingers in many musical pies. Under the moniker Denizens, the Kilmarnock man focuses his energies on more industrial and breakbeat soundscapes, occasionally delving into the hardcore side of the genres.

Having released on labels such as ‘The Meaning of Rave’, ‘Archivio01’ and ‘Dark Carousel’, Kevin’s releases are always of the highest quality. With support from the likes of Dax J, Femanyst and Nico Moreno, you know Denizens is a name that means business.

The Track:
Inspired by retro, PS1 soundtracks, this track masterfully combines blissful melodies and synths with strong, broken percussion. While the melodic elements create an ethereal and airy atmosphere, the percussion cuts through with a tangible energy. The artist became fascinated with the unpolished sounds of these classic soundtracks, flipping samples in his works, creating a nostalgic yet futuristic end product.
