Milanese club experimentalist @piezopz takes a novel approach for his label’s seventh release, taking himself out of the equation entirely on 'Fast Fists Fest' - a five-track compilation spanning the 150-160 BPM bracket.

The record features an exciting double drop from Tokyo's @oyubi, a leading light of Japan’s footwork scene, who delivers a frenzied kick drum workout with ‘Tomy's Siren’.

Toupaz - Bona Fide [out on Fast Fists Fest / Ansia007]

We are very excited to welcome DJ QGB to the All Centre fold for ACEN057. After releasing two exceptional LPs in 2018 and 2022, he steps out from his own label Present Tense for the first time to explore a club-ready approach to his singularly intricate sound. Across the four tracks, he strips his work down to basics and chases “expensive sounds”.

Kicking things off in a wonky half-time groove, Animus Type Beat guides the listener through a heady, dubbed-out soundscape with forceful, stuttering kicks. Mechanical vocal chops and dub sirens give way to a tense, urgent melody which sounds and then submerges back into the track’s compelling percussive explorations. 

The Truth, featuring Freesound uploader Roses1401, takes on classic UKG ideas and transposes them firmly into the future with intricate, optimising sound design. Heavily swung drums hold down a hypnotic groove while subsonic basslines dive below. Meanwhile, haunting vocal samples and powerful string swells add a dramatic edge to the track.

Powpowpoww lives up to its name with a rushing, high-energy groove punctuated by synth swoops and oddball percussive sounds. An understated bassline makes its way to the fore with the addition of a glitched-out M1 organ patch, which plays out a haunting harmony to the addictive sub pattern.

QGB closes the EP with Halloween Track, a tense, kickless excursion. A stuttering, percussive melody lays the groundwork for the track, whilst manic samples and percussion build the tension to increasingly strained levels. The arrangement gives way to a heavy reese-bass breakdown before simmering out with repeated vocal chops.

Expensive Sounds is available across all digital platforms from March 8th.

We gather this music to offer our solidarity, make our position clear, and encourage others to continue advocating and organizing for the Palestinian liberation struggle.

On ACEN 058, label boss DJ Pitch teams up with Berlin-based artist MLE to gether an EP of energetic, stripped-down dance floor cuts. MLE, Rhythm Section affiliate and Refuge Worldwide resident, presents her first released productions; DJ Pitch puts out his first offerings on the label since 2022's Scared. 

Wicked Cool Mega Safe ramps things up into a high-intensity groove. Whilst stripping things down to percussive basics, the track remains endlessly compelling, with forceful four-to-the-floor clap patterns surrounded by ecstatic snare rolls, percussive grunts and syncopated tom hits.

Bait’s second VEP (Various EP) is a 4-track dive into a rather modern phenomenon: 150 dubstep, as DJs and crowds seem to be enjoying the faster bass sounds, yet broken rhythms and heavy halftime pulses. For this release, we’ve got L.A.’s rising bass-music talent Carré, who specialised in racing wobblers, and recently released her debut solo EP on her label FAW (Fast at Work). Track 2 is by UK-born Berlin-based Formella. This is the Femme Bass Mafia member’s first-ever release. The Third track is by Fast Castle label captain Gent1le $oul, also Berlin-based and pushing hybrid dubstep in the German capital with hot vinyl releases and parties. Last but not least, SPLT’s mental banger “Grill Party” that Beatrice M. happened to discover in Laksa’s Truant podcast and reached out after dropping an “ID?” comment on SoundCloud. The Lyon-based producer never misses, his tracks have been played out multiple times by Garçon and Agonis, in the continuity of merging bass and techno.

@cab_asa makes his debut on Control Freak with 4 tracks of stripped back, percussive dance music, plus a remix from NYC/Kindergarten’s @aye5ha.

Belgian producer Cabasa has carved a distinctive niche in the fertile Brussels club scene with his sleek & minimalistic productions, which reimagine UK soundsystem culture through a fresh, contemporary lens.

'Bird Tool' traverses a range of genre and BPM ranges in typical CF fashion, from the 140-influenced stylings of ‘Volume 3’, to the mutant halftime rhythms of title track ‘Bird Tool’ and ‘End Credits’ - exploring a tempo range that’s become a popular fixture of UK club music in recent years. Rounding off the release, Ayesha delivers a slick ‘Drums You Can Touch’ dub of 'Bird Tool', fresh off the back of her critically acclaimed LP ‘Rhythm Is Memory’.

Hot on the heels of nosync’s ‘Soundsystem Music’, Plasma Sources is proud to present Beton Brut’s ‘Project Researcher’, a 4-track offering of no nonsense, dancefloor-ready electronics which take influence from experimental club music, grime and musique concrète.

Having previously released standout EPs on CYTE Records, Beton Brut has built a reputation for delivering distinctively sparse and heavy-hitting productions which have garnered support from the likes of Mumdance, LCY and Walton. On ‘Project Researcher’, Beton Brut takes his sound and develops it even further.

In the producer’s own words, the EP is “about materials - raw, straight and to the point”.

’Lighter’ pulses with Beton Brut’s signature blend of grime-influenced bass-weight and snatches of pirate-radio MC chatter. ‘EMCA’ doubles down on this approach, with a more identifiable rhythm sure to keep heads bouncing at peak time.

As an EP, ‘Project Researcher’ feels like the auditory equivalent of observing a chemical process inside a petri-dish. Beton Brut sets himself up as a scientist on this release, meticulously collecting individual samples from the deep corners of YouTube, introducing these into abstracted environments and observing the reaction.
