We’re back! Our sixth release has arrived…

We’re excited to announce ‘Soon’ (MANT006), coming from debut artist, oliver. It’s a real honour to be chosen by an artist for their debut release, and we think you’ll enjoy the journey as he drifts between ambient, downtempo electronica, and techno.

'Possession', the stunning opening track, is an ethereal vignette capturing the melancholic atmosphere of late night and early morning. The EP's immersive title track, ‘Soon’, effortlessly layers pads and melodies that combine to provide moments of both introspection and euphoria. 'Tripped' and 'Melt' complete the EP's original material, and are as well suited to a Sunday drive as they are to the dance floor.

As is tradition Ian DPM, the previous EP artist, takes the lead on remix duties. Featuring on his 3rd consecutive Mantissa EP, he imprints his distinctive style on 'Possession', and expertly closes the record with a take that is vibrant, trippy and club ready.

Written and produced by a close friend to the Mantissa family, this unnamed and elusive artist has begun the label with a bang, three club focused, space inspired tracks designed to decimate a dancefloor or atone a night's shenanigans at an after's.
Space Cadet opens the extra-terrestrial affair, weaving from acoustic elements to electronic and eclectic synth lines. Frozen Bounce finalising the A side with a wobbly number, woven together with quick cuts and jerky elements. U10A, the most structured of a complex affair, is a warming club tool perfect for both beginning and finishing an evening. It's remix similarly suitable for any party specific scenario, produced by the infamously talented artist Ciel.

PREMIERE: U01A (Ciel's Subterra Dub) [Mantissa]

Glistening electronica from Bristol-based DJ, producer and radio host Bex.

Bex made her production debut towards the end of last year, with Mantissa 002 continuing to showcase her emotions-led style - creating worlds and melodies to get lost into. With residencies on Noods and 1020 Radio, Bex also runs the Women’s Producer Group and has gigs coming up with Tim Reaper, Bluetoof, Luka Una and more. 

Marking the second release on Mantissa’s label arm, the release also includes a remix from ‘Unknown Artist’ on the final track.

The always impressive Grid Records delivers again, this time with a who’s-who of underground composers from across the bass spectrum. Big tip!

French artist and curator Clad gathers together thirteen earth-shattering tracks from the bass scene’s most promising creators, all aimed to move you in the most primordial way. Evoking images of vast landscapes and deep underground catacombs.

This perfectly curated various artists compilation takes the listener deep into the earth with twisted percussion workouts from the likes of Jabes, Piezo, Ronan and Sister Zo… and back into the light with serene compositions from E-unity, Tammo Hesselink and A Psychic Yes, whilst Jay Duncan, Basile3 y Clara!, Jonny From Space, Flaty, Seekersinternational, and Blu-e join the dots with their genre-defying creations. 

There is a surging kinetic energy throughout, keeping the listener hooked and not knowing what to expect next whilst also tapping into a feeling of optimism that sets this release apart from others in the genre. 

As was the case with GRID’s first V/A compilation Improvisations, the label once again puts its stamp on a moment in the underground by collecting together productions of the highest quality that push the boundaries but undeniably make you want to move.

It was cold out here in the middle of nowhere. The stars were bright and glistening against a deep, murky, black backdrop as if the sky was acting as some sort of stage upon which they might dance and shimmer.

The boat continued to move over the water, drifting softly and slowly onwards through the night. It was deadly silent but for the occasional ripple of water.

Perhaps this was what serenity truly felt like?

He began to melt slowly away, much like the cold and the ice which surrounded them on all sides as they moved onwards through the passageway. One day all of this would be a distant memory, a nostalgic reflection of an exhibition through the North.

For now it was simply a case of absorbing each breath, taking in the cold abyss and melting away.

Oliver is set to release a new EP on the prominent Mantissa - the well versed record label come mix series come editorial outlet has grown from strength to strength over the years and is making great strides.

This EP is a well rounded assortment of pensive, moody, delicate electronics which are as much for solitary listening as they are dancing.
