Austrian imprint Luv Shack Records is opening up yet another chapter in 2018 by welcoming Irish House and Techno afficionado and Misfit resident Andrew Johnston AKA Moodtrax and his own-brand of super warm and brooding sound to their stable.

'Running Number' starts as a no-nonsense house track, carried by a beefy unisono bassline and a 16th note heavy drum pattern, yet it trancsends into 80s territory with the help of a deeply emotional chord progression that might just make you forget you're in a club.

Lyon beatsmith Saint Paul made an impressive full debut in 2017 with his Introspection EP on Moonrise Hill Material (which he co-runs with his boys Folamour, Ethyène and Kaffe Crème). After tasty contributions to V/As on the likes of Apparel Wax and FHUO, the Frenchman is back with another solo record on DC’s Better Listen Records.

The Naturist Behavior EP is a tastefully balanced, warm-weather oriented four tracker. The title track and the A2, “A Hawaiian Trip”, explore playful and jazzy territories. Meanwhile, the flip hosts moodier ventures via the bittersweet boogie of “Tell Me” and the ice cold late night jam, “Feels Good”.

PREMIERE: Never Dull - Willie The Man

Mangabey is the new kid in the Toy Tonics crew. Jazz piano virtuoso, synth collector and producer of magnificent funk house tracks. Born in the south of France in a family of traveling artists. As a kid he has been living on a boat and in caravans, traveling France and Africa with his parents' wild theater collective. Jose Fehner aka Mangabey had for sure an adventurous life.
 
But while all his family consists of actors - Jose is a music boy. He started playing piano at age of 6 and later studied Jazz at the conservatory. He also started Hip Hop production at age of 15 and became a mad collector of Afro-American music. While finishing his piano studies he felt in love with synthesizers and by now he is quite a wizard when he plays all his rare keyboards live. 

Mangabey at the moment loves to make 4 to the floor-tracks. He plays most instruments himself and creates mad energetic trips full of soulish vibes and funky solos. Reminding the vibe of Nuyorican Soul or the West London scene from 20 years ago. But Jose Mangabey has his own touch. An own mood. Extremely funky, organic sounding, warm vibing and tight like shit. Very contemporary. An atmosphere that fits perfectly with the vibes of his French friend Foulamour - who added a remix for this EP.

'Night Cuisine' is a tasty four tracker via Sune's 'Honey Butter Records', filled with dusty feel good sample flips in a true Swales manner. The A side is best described as a love story where lushness meets stomp, while the flip effortlessly roles the top back down and takes on a more laid back approach to that deep disco sound - yet both guilty of setting summer nights in motion.

Manchester based, Swales has been making real movements of late - spreading his silky groove ridden textures with a healthy dose of disco around the sonisphere.  We had the pleasure of featuring the first track on the flipside, 'Supernatural' - an after hours bowl of deliciousness, so tasty it may give you indigestion.
