Banoffee Pies Records drop the 13th release in the original series. This VA entitled "Common Ground" is a crossover of influences from 4 artists with a selection of tracks all above 150bpm from producers of a similar generation giving a nod to their youth and early musical journeys, largely inspired by Drum & Bass and Jungle raves across the UK.

The release divided in two with a Dark A side and Light B side offering two moods of liquidity. The opening track "Class Of '92" comes from Leeds based Lisene, one half of the Space Cadets duo, with previous releases on Seven Hill Records and more. The A2 from Bristol based Hartta offers a more spooked bass heavy cut with "Hauntology".

The B side begins with title track "Common Ground", an ode to dusted jungle and liquid drum & bass from another Leeds head Sourpuss, known for running the Stretchy Dance Supply parties. The last track on the disc "Vapour" comes from Manchester's Interplanetary Criminal. With his UKG EP "Move Tools" on BP010 landing on the label and many dance floors at the end of 2019, this nostalgic drum scattered jungle cut stylishly closes off the compilation. Limited Press. VIPs are becoming more common again with the fast turnover of music in our rapidly evolving musical environment. These enable the producer to continue playing their own tracks in DJ sets but have an edge with a slightly updated version from the released tune. VIPs are mostly never made available outside a select set of DJs, but for the Samurai Hannya series we had a few that were really too strong not to release, so we commissioned a few more to round out the EP. Homemade Weapons is a long term proponent of the VIP and he shows his experience here with his updates of Omen and The Claw, transforming them into entirely different approaches that have been favourites with all DJs that have had these in advance. Roho and Torn strip back their tunes and both provide essential renovations to their initial constructions that propel them back into your crate as essential frameworks to build new blends.

They hurtled down the motorway at full speed, the entire car bundled with bodies tightly packed in like sardines. Occasionally a head would pop out of the sun roof to bask in the breeze, followed by a lit cigarette butt darting out of the open window. The chatter grew louder as they took the next junction and began to near their destination, with each and everyone throwing in their two cents about missed turnings or short cuts. But soon enough the distant pulsing kicks were the only compass they needed.

Back at it again, Bristol's Banoffee Pies Records share the 13th release in their original series, this time in the form of a V/A called Common Ground. Bringing together four artists, including Interplanetary Criminal, Sourpuss, Hartta and our pick from one of Space Cadets, Lisene, the release is comprises on a batch of 150bpm+ cuts that tip the hat to their formative inspirations and early musical journeys. Split into two different moods of liquidity, each side moves through influences in Drum & Bass, Jungle, Liquid and UKG, harking back to the UK's early rave days.

- Backstory -
