Eddy Kennedy, aka Kessler, is a DJ and producer from Northern Ireland. Collecting records & studying production from an early age enabled him to progress a deep passion of music, which unearthed an array of unique self-released records, as well as releases on Born Sleepy, innovative label in Belfast hometown. An eclectic taste is well and truly reflected through Kessler’s creative & unique style, drawing influences from the likes of Ilian Tape, R&S, Metalheadz and Hessle Audio.Having nurtured his sound in the UK & Ireland, Kessler relocated to Rotterdam to continue growing his forward thinking & genre defying aesthetic, which you can hear in ‘Endura’ and ‘Fly Forever’, creating a dynamic signature of immersive breaks & bass-driven music. Also praised for his selections, outlying his distinct connection with unrestricted electro, garage, jungle & techno, Kessler has gained reputation for his tough and diverse sets, earning a residency with Manchester-based Limbo Radio, slot’s at AVA Festival, Shine and Twitch to name a few, and also a standout performance at Mixmag’s Lab London in 2019, whilst also being tipped by Four Four Mag as one to watch. Supporting and sharing booths across the UK with acts like Skream, Pangaea & Marcel Dettman to Prosumer, Avalon Emerson, and Ellen Allien have provided the sonic tools in which he can attach string after string to his creative bow.2020 looks to be a breakthrough year for the young producer, who’s sound has adopted a more take no prisoners attitude. Kessler also boasts his own club imprints Footwork & newly launched Meraki, which sees him curate line-ups within the realm of electro, breaks & driven techno across dance floors in Europe.

Break Cycle marks Fly By Night’s third release of 2020 with a heavy fusion of breaks & electro from up-and-coming artist Tom Place in a 3-track EP. Following his releases on Bade Records and Aloka’s Typeless, this year has marked an emergence for Tom as he further embellishes his recognisable brand of techno inspired electro. The EPs opener, Eight Five, is a heavy-hitting electro track featuring a rolling drum beat and an instantly recognisable vocal echoing throughout its’ inner realms. Followed up by its’ more spacey counterpart Break Cycle, a track which builds tension perfectly and exactly surmises what makes Tom’s production so exciting to listen out for right now. Featuring heavy UK bass influences, this track really doesn’t belong in a world where vibrating soundsystems can’t pulse out its’ unrelenting bassline. The EP is wrapped up with the genre-defying Transients, a floaty, emotional track, which serves as a reminder to Tom’s dubstep roots, while still remaining indistinctively electro. Break Cycle embodies a perfect summary of the direction Fly By Night are pushing into as a label, at the start of a busy period of more things to come from both the artist and label.

For the seventh volume of International Chromies, we're turning to something close to our hearts.

The 26th of January is known in our home country as Australia Day, a national holiday where non-indigenous people celebrate the founding of the country and the arrival of The First Fleet. For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, and those sympathetic to their cause this day is known as Invasion Day, and is held as a day of mourning commemorating the beginning of the colonisation of lands and cultures that had existed there for over 50,000 years.

It goes without saying we are ashamed of this "Holiday" and stand in solidarity with our Indigenous sisters & brothers.
All the money from this compilation will be split between The Healing Foundation & Reconciliation Australia.
Both organizations are partnering with communities around Australia to address the inequality and prejudice the First Nations people face, and the on-going trauma caused by abhorrent actions such as the forced removal of children from their families. They work with these communities to create a place of safety, providing an environment for Stolen Generation survivors and their families to speak for themselves, tell their own stories and be in charge of their own healing.

If you are in a position to donate directly or share any information about either organisation we thoroughly encourage that you do & we want to send a huge thank you to Mall Grab, Mathis Ruffing, Kuldaboli, Prequel Tapes & CYRK for donating their work for this fundraiser along with everyone who has been supporting International Chromies since we started.
