Kinetik Groove - Good Thang

As Oscar Davey-Wraight announced on The Untz Podcast last fall, he is indeed releasing an album this spring. In fact, it's this FRIDAY! The new OPIUO album, Meraki, bursts through the floodgates on his own imprint, Slurp Music, March 21st.

Since we broke the news last fall, it makes sense that we break this brand new collaboration between Davey-Wraight and Beats Antique. "Chubby Putty" pits that bombastic bounce we've come to know and love from OPIUO against the Balkan strings of Beats. Lush, sweeping melodies dance and flutter around these intricate percussive grooves. The interplay between the opposing forces is at times tense, enticing, and above all, filthy. We absolutely can't wait to hear it live.

And lucky Aussies get to enjoy OPIUO in the flesh as he tours his adopted homeland with Dub FX through the end of March and into April (where he'll close out the tour in his real homeland of New Zealand). More information on those dates at dubfxopiuo.com.

With "Let the Good Times Roll," SoCal Electro/Soul/Funk duo Crush Effect have transformed Earl King's classic "Come On (Let the Good Times Roll)" by incorporating an arrangement of speaker-rattling basslines and buzzing electronic effects. Different from previous covers by Jimi Hendrix and Stevie Ray Vaughan, among others, the chorus is soaked in auto-tune and loops as a repetitive mantra atop a plethora of synthesizers, scattered drums, and multi-layered guitar riffs. Debuted at Coachella's Do Lab stage, "Let the Good Times Roll" is being released for free download and for purchase on iTunes, premiering via The Dankles.
