The mix is, according to Caapi and Lizzie Urquhart, a musing on the Divine Feminine, which got me thinking about something James Hillman, archon of all things archetypal, said about the study of Beauty. Apparently (so says James) the ancient root of the word "Aesthetics" comes close to meaning "I breathe in" and the mixes, releases and vibe of Somewhere Press has certainly breathed something beautiful into Glasgow's musical landscape. Episode number 52 is "hard-boiled" by an outstanding artist from the medieval city of Utrecht -  Tala Drum Corps. Being a creator in the field of audio and interaction design Tijmen combines many musical incarnations, including but not limited to his own tape experiments and the building of dub sirens and curation of Stranded FM. In his music and mixes, he gravitates more towards a chthonic palette including spooky dub, captivating and otherworldly percussions, mumblecore illbient, hypnotizing mermaid trance, mnemonic electro, Arrakis kraut and who knows what else! This mix was no exception, which makes me very happy as the curator of De Kat Memwa series! After listening to the mix for the first time, I was naturally sweating from the buzz!

I have been a long-time fan of the work of Tala Drum Corps, but for some reason, I was too shy to write for some time. When I finally overcame my shyness, we were very quickly able to meet in real life and hold an amazing joint dance event in Malmö. In short, it is a great happiness to find new friends and like-minded people through music!

These seemingly endless grooves are extremely addictive with a soupçon of danger. Like someone drilled a hole in your head for the dub-metal maggots to crawl in.

« Delphine from Demord Enregistrements and Daya from 2F4F & Psst Mlle, friends and both active in the musical scene between Paris and Brussels for several years now, met up last summer in shiny Plangenoual at 'No Problemos' fest in Brittany organized by the 'Nickelos' team (Demord & friends). De Kat Memwa is a mix series which aims to cherish talented artists from all over the world who are seeking to promote non-obvious music through thoughtful storytelling! 

De Kat Memwa is curated by Prince of Gosplan (Kirill O.) who is also performing as a DJ under the eponymous name.

De Kat Memwa is a resident of Malmö-based @retreatradio with (non-)ambient show 'Deep Relief' and collaborative experimental dance music show 'Ordealia' w/ @jonteprippz 

In the beginning, in addition, to the mix series De Kat Memwa was extended as DJ's trio with the participation of @andrew-lipa & @andreykalder. All the founding members are disseminated between Sweden, Germany and the USA which makes a collective performance impossible. However, altogether we are involved in the curation and production of 'Deep Relief' show!
