Delfonic from Berlin, a busy guy that will hit you with his experienced, flawless flow and the skills of a Hip Hop veteran but an open-minded music taste including soulful grooves from new jazz vibes, underground Disco, American House, Breaks and Afro Grooves.

With a history in digging and an unquestionable love for music, Markus Lindner, a.k.a. Delfonic, is one of the most versatile and informed DJ as they come.

He used to be the key character concerning music knowledge in Berlin. After a long decade at  OYE records store he left the business to become a 100% touring DJ and also to do a series of Dance Jazz Edits (Illegal Jazz) which create a massive buzz in the new house and funky dance world (support from Gilles Peterson, Honey Djoon and many others)

Delfonic applies his broad knowledge of music styles to almost any setting, and is renowned for blending multiple genres, eras and disciplines throughout his sets. An open-minded talent, with an uncompromising approach to DJing, he employs a style schooled from an upbringing in hip-hop. Delfonic is the model DJ - he’ll warm the crowd up, get them dancing and then provide the scope and context that will keep the heads on board.

Old dude who just got thawed out after 25 years. Hooked up with Alex and Chris @interstate55 crew — back in ’97. Spent two years at the University of Chicago from ’97 to 2000. Just enough time to grab a pair of SL1200s, raid Gramaphone, and smoke pretty much everything the Windy City was servin’… right before immigration pulled up and made it clear school had to come first or they’d get kicked out of the country, no questions asked.

Wild nights between Chicago and Paris, pushin’ that Underground sound, bookin’ their Chitown homies — no sellout, no business talk, just real ones doin’ real shit. Back in the game now, droppin’ radio shows inspired by the mixtapes that shaped their youth and carved out the path they still follow today.

I will always be a student of sound. I'm creating sound mixes that hit in the gut and give the listener no choice but to move. I celebrate what dance really is for me - the richest and most honest way to communicate anything.

The Interstate 55 project kicked off from a friendship between two young French and American students back in ’95, during a warehouse party on the South Side of Chicago. Working as press correspondents for Coda and Trax Magazine between Paris and Chicago for three years, these two helped push the Midwest sound over in Europe. They interviewed some of the biggest legends — Paul Johnson, Derrick Carter, Cajmere, Gemini, Boo Williams, Dance Mania Crew. The duo also hooked up a lot of Chicago DJs with Paris gigs, both public and private, plus slots on major radio stations.

Fast forward 25 years from those legendary parties, Interstate 55 is back in the game, promote the underground once again — mixing current sounds with classic tracks through their Radio Shows and the Lake Shore Drive Series. Deep, funky, bumpy, hard, soulful… House is life. It’s a trip. This SoundCloud page is a tribute to all the friends who’ve lived this story and are still carrying it deep inside.
