So the 90s are back, right? With their dreamy deep
atmospheres , their simple house grooves, with samplers
dominating the scene where electronics is mixed up with
samples of acoustic instruments, in an ever serene and
dreamlike mood...
YES, BUT the 90s were something else too! There was
the Bad Masters' techno as well!
Noise like rhythmic scansion, extreme digital modulation,
exasperated editing.
From his huge archives Robotnick fishes out some
experimental techno-house and dub tracks he had fun
producing in the late 90s, while his major creative energy
was turned to ambient and world-music.
Starting with "Science" and "Modulation" - that could be
defined Industrial-techno - and "Tangerine Blob" - a sort
of Goa-Trance -

with a special focus on the 90s.

I moved out of my windowless studio and started writing from home again. I think subconsciously I've started writing more joyous, colourful music and I've loved being more collaborative once again.

These tracks are my favourite music I've produced so far, Tourist will always change with each release and I've loved pushing the sound into a new place.

She was left alone once again, in the empty house surrounded by the walls that haunted and twisted between them. There was little left in her heart, she just wished that she could see him sometimes. Perhaps it was supposed to be this way, distant and sad. She sat at the table and watched the outside world float by through the glass.

The call of the night welcomed her home. She had ran for thousands of miles by day across the dandy dunes and the grassy plains but something always ensured she returned to her place of rest. "Ducue" echoed out across the night as the stars sparkled in a hazy glow up above. The sky was a pitch, deep black but it was not threatening like it once had been. Now it was still, peaceful and dreamy. Half the world was asleep whilst another roared and rioted. This was far away. 

Love Letters is an artist whom we have supported previously on Ransom Note, an interesting up and comer with a distinct sound reminiscent of the days when house was... better. Yeah, we said it. Anyway, here is a new track on Yield Records, listen to "Ducue".

Old time friend of the label and major artist of the downtempo scene of the South of France, Fred Berthet is signing Global Warming latest release. Much respected for his works as DJ Steef, Copyshop or Troublemakers (with DJ Oil & Arnaud Taillefer), he delivered us two downtempo acid jams, filled with sexual tension, seeping walls and slow orgy. It also features remixes from our all-time favorites Italian balearic band, Mushrooms Project, who sends us back a superb organic and solar vision or the original track and on the opposite, Global Warming’s founder Malcolm (@mmaallccoollmm), signing a bestial and deliciously obscure cover. Hope you enjoy it !

OOSSHA continues her path with a second release by G. Markus titled Warning! OOSSHA is an outlet for music that’s dedicated to house and alternative styles while always maintaining ferce and unique ingredients that conquer hearts.

UK producer Ben Gomori revisits his G. Markus alter ego for an EP that pays tribute to the Jungle and Drum & Bass soundtrack of his formative years. Dreemscape ’93 opens the EP; a vibey piece that instantly recalls old school house tracks with its use of a contagious groove, fltered elements and a specifc vocal sample taken from Dreamscape's 1993 NYE party. On the same side we fnd queniv turning B side track The Sleepless Moon into his unique blend of breakbeat elements and twisted ambient layers.

On the fipside, Roger Gerressen turns Dreemscape 93’ into his own interpretation of lo-f fltered chord sweetness and combining it with hypnotizing Rhodes patterns. B2 makes space for the original Sleepless Moon which is all about the rhythms. Intricate midi programming triggers acoustic drum samples that intertwine with twinkling ear candy and a jungle break before breaking up the patterns with an infectious bassline.

Andy Ash has been quietly sneaking out seriously good analogue-driven electronic music on some of the best underground labels for over a decade. The Liverpool-based producer, DJ and visual artist has graced the likes of Chicago’s Stilove4music, NYC’s On The Prowl, Sydney’s People Must Jam and has remixed Fantastic Man for Detroit label Kolour LTD amongst many others. The bottom line is that he’s definitely one of the UK’s unsung heroes when it comes to deep, raw, Chicago and Detroit-influenced house music and Delusions of Grandeur is proud to welcome him with an amazing three tracker entitled the Bottleneck EP.

The title track opens with snappy hats, flappy congas and sloppy baseline all sitting perfectly in the mix and with a looseness that is much harder to achieve that it may seem. A simple synth melody doubles up the bassline while an extra square wave lead adds that little extra hook without distracting us from the bouncing groove. With Bottleneck, less is definitely more.

Flipping over we have Hump, an altogether darker affair with a twisting acid line joining distorted 808 drums and tripped-out snippets of spoken word coming in and out of focus. The low-slung bumpy groove and spacey synth parts make this a compelling warehouse track which will draw everyone into it’s seductive confines.

Closing the release we have Actual Price, a shuffling, deep groover with rumbling low end and machine-like analogue synth part skipping around the crunchy beats. A cerebral yet punchy and dynamic closer to an excellent release!
