For our final release of the year on Shades Of Sound Recordings, our global spotlight for exciting new music falls on Buenos Aires, where Argentinian producer On The Reg delivers a stunning 4-track EP of deep house and balearica.

This collection sees a blending of warm, rolling grooves with lush pads, sun-washed melodies, and subtle organic textures. A sound that glides effortlessly between late-night introspection and golden-hour calm with nods to ‘90s downtempo and breakbeat influences, infusing the EP with a nostalgic edge that recalls early Café del Mar compilations and the halcyon days of chillout rooms and coastal sunsets.

Across its four pieces, Hernán captures that timeless Balearic balance between rhythm and reflection, offering music equally suited to intimate club sets, beachside sessions, and long night drives.

The EP will be available digitally on 18th November via Shades Of Sound Recordings, closing out a year of globally inspired deep house, downtempo, and electronica releases.

For one of such royal heritage he lived a life far from the realms of luxury one might expect him to be accustomed to. The hole in the king's sock grew wider and wider each day as he trudged wearily through the forest, he cared not for gold and palaces but for the sweet essence of nature and the outdoors. Many had criticised his role within such mighty authority whilst others admired his humble reluctance towards the spotlight. For they cared not for the crown, the politics and it's reign but sought sweet freedom from its perilous clutches. 

Flexi Cuts are set to release their second EP in the form of a five track split. They invite a number of new found friends on to the label for the very first time.

NYC-based label and party series HOMAGE is set to drop their third release, this time with the help of London-based DJ and producer JVTXA . As a budding artist still finding their place amidst the low-fi renaissance that’s currently sweeping scenes around the globe, JVXTA’s "Rudy’s Disc" EP plays with time and space -- honouring a romantic past while keeping its edges sharp and forward thinking.

Today we premiere the EP’s closing track, a seven-minute slow burner titled, State of Nature. From the opening bar onward JVXTA dims the lights and sets the mood, inviting trance by way of his tightly interwoven percussion, crackling with a dust that’s distinctly Detroit in nature. Floating up from below, a synthesized string brings levity, opening the mix and making room for quick piano cuts and distorted hoots and hollers, each panning right to left before fleeing towards an alluring unknown. As the track unfolds layer by layer, the groove revealed harkens back to an unmistakably 90’s Detroit root, proudly displayed in it’s mechanical hi-hats and soaring acapella. All the while, JVXTA grounds us in the here, now, and beyond with stunning synthesized sound design. Glimmering keys and thick pads rest leisurely in the middle of the mix, evoking the image of a future yet unheard. A perfect way to lay us down to rest at the end of an otherwise floor-filling EP.

After numerous successful records on Ron Trent's "Future Vision" label, Volcov's "Neroli", DeepArtsound, Perpetual Rhythms, Osunlade's "Yoruba", and many others - "About U" is Trinidadian Deep's first release for Croatian label Burek.

Born and raised on the island of Trinidad and Tobago, today a place this producer calls "home" is found on various locations scattered all over the globe and a variety of influences is what is immediately evident by rich sounds and textures engraved onto this piece of vinyl.

A side, "I Want" is the most laid-back moment, in lack of a better term. Warm-sounding tribal percussions supporting the interaction of deep chords and wonderfully lush synths running thought the whole track only to get enriched with a beautiful piano line in the 2nd half. If there is track fitting to represent the sunset, that transition from day to night moment - "I Would" is the one.

B1 "Ghost" is the track on the record with the most forward-momentum. Deep tribal rhythms and lush synth lines are a sort-of a leitmotif on this record and are present here as well, with an occasional vocal snippet that only deepens the magic.

B2 "Abourisha" makes good use of those leitmotifs in a similarly effective but overall quite different manner. Broken rhythm gives it a slightly different energy, making it an ideal track for those 5 am moments when a track like this marks the night.

Ghost

Distant Hawaii continues to aurally thaw the oncoming Pacific cold front with a quartet of foot-toasting, skin toning summer house shufflers courtesy of Hardmatter label-head and London resident JVXTA.

Having honed his valve-warmed + dusty samplin' production chops with a self-released split on Hardmatter, a low-key cassette for Swamp Tapes and a more recent package of burners for the NYC-based imprint Homage. This time it's a step on Lobster sub Distant Hawaii with four soulful slices of summer house moods and grooves carefully crafted and chopped into a seasoned and well rounded whole.

SS Anne brings the crunchy house and edits-y vibes to the fore with an extended workout, interjecting with moments of vocal flourishes and a more up-beat almost disco vibe. On the same side is the title track stomper Orange Islands, interspersed with showers of melodic richness, slowly pouring from a crack in the rocks upon high. A tender and slow stream of soulful synth-work and cascading dreams.

Dive Theme matches the mood from whence it's names. Pure Detroit chords and staggered, Chi-house-boogie drumwork puckering the textural framework. Trance-like ethereal patterns to envelope the mind and body.

Tidying things up with a ground-floor, deep-seated low-groover is Angelo's Alley. A beach scene recording sits behind a lolloping, humped bass-kick program with touches of choral Juno embellishing throughout, and an honest and revealing spoken-word lull recalling the reflective power of Mylo's seminal Sunworshipper.

JVXTA popped up on our radar this year with some tasty morcels on Clipp.Art, Homage and his own imprint Hardmatter. Now he's joining up with the Lobster Theremin guys with a beaut of an EP on their Distant Hawaii sub-label. We're showcasing the brilliant SS Anne that's fused two firm favourite samples into a late night burner thats as elegant as it is bumping. As soon as we heard this we knew it would had to get it up on SB channels ASAP!

JVXTA first crept into our sub-conscious, set up his laptop and opened Ableton with his first flutter on Hardmatter, which he soon followed up with his return and their second release. As easy as it is for an artist to slip your mind in this ever transient sonic world - especially a new one - his tightly wrapped dark techy tones and tricky-to-crack acronym made JVXTA a difficult name to forget. 

This one’s on our favourite dance-floor crustaceans lil’ sis, ‘Distant Hawaii’ – showcasing JVXTA’s production versatility with a Jekyll and Hyde front & flip. ‘Dive Theme’ is on the flip, which flaunts the darker side of his armoury. Steely cityscape tones echo between the looming scrapers, dusk is nigh but the burgh never sleeps. Is it 5am or 5pm - no one knows but we keep moving.

Foul & Sunk is proud to present 'Morello', a cathartic EP from upcoming producer star D.Y.A. As an university educated jazz drummer the concept of improvisation and aspiration for that one special musical moment is surely no secret to D.Y.A. So both tracks 'Morello' and 'Cosy' are melodic groovers with the extra portion of soul. Beside this there are Johannes Albert and Shan on remixing duties. Albert is taking it to a deeper level, while Shan delivers a 9 min. monster remix with his emotional melodies and deep grooves.

Somewhat of a cult favourite, Shall Not Fade was born out of the city of Bristol in winter 2015 and since then has captured the hearts and minds of us all. They’ve came a long way since their debut release from a young Aussie talent, who unknowingly at the time would go on to become one of the biggest names in electronic music, Mall Grab. The rise of the label has been beautiful to watch and thoroughly deserved, consistently releasing record after record of the highest calibre while continuing to attract superstars; Adryiano, DJ Boring, Skream the list goes on... After establishing themselves in the music scene a new project was unveiled to us all, the sub-label of Lost Palms. Like any sub-label it gave them the adaptability to focus on a more specific sound, a smooth euphoric head-in-the-cloud sound that we are now all too familiar with. Subjoi, Harrison BDP and Demuja are a few names embedded onto the leaves of the Lost Palms. The twenty first Lost Palm gently falls into view and is delivered in expert style by Zoo Look. Already being aware of Zoo Look’s back catalogue, it's easy to see how this match up was inevitable to happen – a perfect musical match. Four completely unique tracks compile the Similar Steps EP, with the entitled track our premiere today. Arpeggiated chords slowly glide in from the mist to become submersed amongst a broken beat. The beautiful thing about this track is the constantly evolving sound winding and diving throughout the stages to make a piece of art.
