China Express - Ghost Of The Samurai (MG Edit)

Cazzo Pazzo began in 2004 as a notorious monthly party in Downtown New York, created by Andy Butler (Hercules & Love Affair) and DJ Joie Iacono, where guests such as Derrick Carter, Morgan Geist, John Selway and Eric Duncan were encouraged  to "dig deep into their crates" and to play their rarest disco records in a small, intimate setting. Now in 2016, Butler and Iacono have reunited once more, whipping rising disco duo, Private Agenda’s latest release, Full Moon into a dark, italo frenzy. Steering the original into the sonic depths of Brooklyn’s fledgling disco underground (via Bologna), inspired by obscure gems such as Stage’s ‘Dreamin’ On The Top’, Kat Mandu's ‘I Wanna Dance’ and Galaxy Band’s ‘Gosh,’ - “Full Moon (Cazzo Pazzo’s Full Time Mix)” is a dubbed-out homage to Full Time Records - a record label notorious for distributing classic Italo Disco acts such as Kano, Tom Hooker, and Electric Mind. Full Moon will be available digitally on Nightshift Records on 15th June 2016.

This week is a special one for us, and we are totally honoured to welcome Hardway Bros to our series. Probably best known in the modern day as one half of the enigmatic DJ duo ALFOS, Sean Johnston has long been one of our favourite selectors and with very good reason. 

Today he guides us on a two hour tour of the known universe, main points of interest include, but are not limited to; sidewinding psychedelia, low slung instrumentation, bubbling acid bass, and arps galore. 

All we can say is frothzoid.

@NightNoiseMusic returns with a new release from @TheSovietUnion aka Richard Baldwin. Baldwin has a signature style that is cinematic and synth heavy and has been formed over the last decade plus. A fine DJ, experienced promoter and self-confessed addict of vintage analogue synthesizers and drum machines, Richard pulls his influences from early electronica, 80s film-scores, and shades of techno right up to the present day. 

This release sees 'The Soviet Union' drawing on all their influences to craft a rugged slice of electronica. 'Emptyhead' is the track and it features additional remixes from Mind Fair, Dance Station and Ondata plus a dub mix from 'The Soviet Union' .

I'm a Cliché comes back again!
After CV’s double Special Delivery LP released in 2018, Edit Service is back with its fifth release, an EP of edits by the young Moscovite duo known as Ólta Karawane, noticed for their edits on Maturre and Discos Capablanca. We’ve been playing their edits very often lately, so it seemed natural to release them on Edit Service.
Edit Service 005 with five amazing tracks on it about to come out later this June on the vinyl and on digital in October.
Opening the EP is this early 80’s antipodean cut somewhere between new wave and post-punk where a shopping list is recited by a male and a female voice engaged in call and response. Innocent and catchy on the surface with its electric keyboard, primitive drum machine and bass guitar, it seems there is something perverse lurking within this tune.

"Unlike the other daytime curators, Lena Willikens chose to open La Sucrière's impressive main hall on Friday, playing alongside her usual back-to-back partner Vladimir Ivkovic. The two looked relaxed behind the decks, swaying, smoking and sometimes smiling. The crowd, less dense than during the other headliners due to the early start, were also in a good mood, using the extra space to feel out each beat of the slower selections. Much of the two hours felt like existing in the lagging moment of a sci-fi movie, just before a spaceship launches into warp speed (in a good way, I promise)."

Willikens & Ivkovic live at Nuits Sonores June 1st 2019

Spanish producer, Logic Records label boss, and Roam Recordings alumni Javier Busto teams up with Mufti aka Bernardo Barrera (½ of Los Fugazzi) to deliver the Dosis EP. The release comes with two original versions and two remixes. The first version by Javier Busto is a driving track with rhythmic synth and arp work underpinning Mufti's sultry voice. The second version is from Mufti himself who adds guitars and a bit of grit. Up first on the remix is Azaria who returns to Roam to bring an epic summertime remix of the original. Rounding out the EP is a stripped down beat heavy version from Roam Recordings boss Jason Peters.

Just in case the weather’s not hot enough for you, Correspondant bring even more heat with the second instalment of their ‘Numéro’ series. A new unchartered galaxy for new and rising artists and friends of the label to explore and lay down their own rules, anything can – and will – happen.
Following the concept launch earlier this year, ‘Numéro 02’ instantly thrusts us out of orbit for another cosmic crusade from Belfast man-of-the-moment LOR. Triumphant synths on a rocket powered groove, it sets the tone as Israeli newcomer Niv Ast, who makes a swift return after remixing Fort Romeau, takes us even further into the universe with ‘Generally Alone’.

For the return ticket back to our over-heated home planet Italo duo Concret and friend Cantor take the controls. ‘Freaks’ is a chunky psychedelic blur through the stars with occasional asteroid washes of guitar while ‘Hardcode’ marches us back into reality with staccato savoir-faire.
