For those who know Antigone and DEMENT3D’s co-founder Francois X, it is impossible to draw the line between their collaboration and friendship. Three years ago, when the duo began exchanging tips on records, production techniques and gears, they had nothing particular in mind. This strategy, or lack thereof, revealed to be much more beneficial to both. One night of 2013, Francois X invites Antigone to DSCRD’s studio — a creative bunker in Paris suburb that was DEMENT3D’s inner circle headquarters at the time. This friendly, spontaneous session quickly turned into a creative workshop and by the end of the evening, “The Hated SZ” was already there.

As you may imagine, projects spanning over such a long time can be risky. You get lost, but that’s what the boys wanted. While slowly affirming their personal sound signature, they were crafting new textures, where their mutual sense of fine dance music and detailed production would hit a new freedom threshold. Francois X admitted to be under the spell of Aposuspita, an art performance and mystical character created by French artist Laura O’Rorke for which he created the soundtrack. The result is a double-EP, the soundtrack of a powerful rite de passage between reality and fiction. A carefully crafted dance music record that tells a story and alters your mind. Just like Aposuspita sucks the pain away from her tribe, Antigone & Francois X’s “We Move As One” offers a modern day catharsis to the listener.

After three years of work, what began as an innocent one night stand turned into one of Paris most exciting release for year 2016. One of the first collaboration between two rising figures of the scene depicted in Resident Advisor’s 2012 “Paris Real Scenes”. A record that embodies the spirit of community that has been fostering the Parisian crowd for over 3 years and that is now reaching a new level, both socially and artistically. The Parisian scene has grown from a sparkle to an organized community of like-minded people, so has the relationship between those two bad boys, and we are proud to crystallize this wild energy on wax.

Retaining it's mother label's passion for championing newcomers, Mörk launches with a debut release from young Netherlandic producer nthng. Cultivating a sound that sits somewhere between Prince of Denmark and early Claro Intelecto with splashes of Clone influence, nthng's stripped-back techno walks fuzzy, shrouded paths through nolstagic moments in time.

At times almost drowning, his engulfing sound is a raw reminder of the power of subtlety and the use of meditative looping along with a rough-around-the-edges production style has led to an incredibly moving debut work.

Viennese techno imprint Bare Hands is pushing its rugged, warm analogue sound towards new territories with‚ European Moral Standards'. Following up their first release, Bare Hands opt for rather eclectic Soundscapes, yet keeping analogue roughness and a spontaneous feel in their focus. 

On side A, Herla's offshoot Sedvs, leaves the comfort zone of 4x4 with ‚Ritual Purity', delivering a sonic exploration of rough, stabbing waves of synths embedded in gloomy, washed-out drums, yet keeping one foot in the club with ‚Protect and Serve', a true 'left of the field' delicacy, meant to cook up the floor right before the main dish is served. 

The B Side, host to mysterious outfit Stock Projects, kicks off with‚ ,Same 1', a toolish, subby basement workhorse driven by a relentless kick topped with hypnotizing hats to send any floor off into lock step. ‚Same 2' however, provides a bouncy neo-technoid cut, reminiscing the gems of a lost era without stepping too far away from the dodgy, sweaty dancefloor it calls home. 

Bare Hands'‚ European Moral Standard' EP arrives in a limited run of black vinyl and includes hand numbered postcard artwork on raw 250g paper.

nthng follows up his acclaimed debut EP 'Remember Us' with the third entry into the Mörk catalogue, '1996'. Taking a less aquatic approach to production, but still shrouded in warm analogue fuzz and reverb, '1996' sees the young producer on much more reverent form, channeling a wider range of influences from German dub techno to staggered UK bass and Giegling-esque minimal tropes.

What better way to round it off than with a 12" of techno head-splitters from two notable Berlin heads – FJAAK and Dystopian head, Rødhåd. A powerful combination that cements Berlin's ever strong, unfaltering plight in the techno world of today.

Rødhåd's 50WEAPONS inauguration may be delayed but, falling in at catalogue number #049 (close second to the grand finale), it's better late than ever. In the Elder Scrolls game-inspired "Oblivion", factory line drums pummel softly underneath, whilst faint synth sirens circle overhead. We can almost feel the smoke-filled, strobe-lit warehouse now. "It's very direct, danceable club music, anchored stylistically between Electro, Techno and Industrial/NewWave, strongly influenced by '80s acts Liaisons Dangereuses, CH BB, sporadically, DAF and the Consumed /Concept period of Richie Hawtin." is how Hanno Leichtmann describes his new project Gesetz Der Oktaven. "The name 'Gesetz Der Oktaven' was chosen because I wanted something very German sounding, as we say 'sperrig', something technical, scientific. All the track titles are very old skool or obsolete studio/audio terms. "I wanted a completely new set-up, so I got a large Soundtracs desk from the 80s with 16 channels and, crucially 6 Aux Sends for effects." He continues, "The large number of aux sends was essential for the project. I used a drum machine, a MiniMoog sequenced by a TB 303, a vintage Drum Synth and six 6 effect combinations for the delay / reverb tracks. All very old-skool and in real time with no plugins. It took months of trial and error but the result is a very beautiful high-quality vintage studio sound."

Gesetz Der Oktaven - Verpolung - Third Ear Recordings

An intense introspection of sound deconstructionism and spacial dissonance presented in this 4 track (plus 2 lock grooves) EP entitled Nonharmonic Beautifault. 

The A Side is introduced with the track 'Blank Hand', a sludge fuelled walk into dusty audio bites and asthmatic rhythms, topped with screaming hoovers and TV static that at once builds up, collapses into beautiful cacophony. Leading us into the 'Body Molecule' - A rushing pad and sparkling percussion pinned to a rolling kick pattern that drives this track toward a central point of attacking synths and swarming soundscape. The run out locked groove features a deep distorted kick that loops into infinity. 

The other side starts with 'Angular Beautifault'. Acidic Rhythms and Buzz Saw Synths all washed together into a shimmering reverberated cavern that explodes with high powered clap patterns and bubbling 303 lines. Following this we have 'The Burin' - an uncompromising, high paced assault of power kicks and slanted percussion. Incessantly driving and unyielding towards the final lock groove of distorted sub loop. 

Nonharmonic Beautifault represents a shift in Positive Centre's work that aims beyond the delicate ambience into harder and darker sound territories. 

Nonharmonic Beautifault EP will be released on 12" vinyl and digital on February 19.
