After 6 years in San Francisco where he co-founded the music and art collective Demure Circle (@demurecircle) and played at clubs like Public Works, he's now located mainly in Lisbon.

Viennese don Peter Kruder’s gradual metamorphosis from king of downtempo to purveyor of classy house and techno was perhaps one of the more unexpected shifts amongst electronic luminaries of last few decades, but it has not been in vain. 

His work as half of Kruder & Dorfmeister soundtracked a million crack-ons, afterhours, comedowns, smoke-outs and lounge sessions and remains some of the most timeless material of the recent era.

Under his own name, he has built a long-running relationship with DJ Hell and his International Deejay Gigolo imprint, releasing several EPs of thought-provoking 4/4 as well as releases on Stefan Goldmann’s Macro and Compost Black Label. His mix for Monologues is a journey through some of his finest remixes, showing his respectful and subtle skill in reworking everything from Daft Punk-produced electronic soul to bossa nova and jazz. It’s an honour to have him contribute to the series.

🗣️ Comment as tu découvert la musique électronique ? Et depuis combien de temps mixes tu ? 
Je mixe depuis l'âge de 15 ans, soit en 1985 ! j'ai très rapidement découvert la musique électronique, dès ses débuts, vers la fin des années 80... une véritable révélation et un coup de foudre qui ne me quittera plus jamais...

🗣️ Quel est ton meilleur souvenir dans musique électronique ? 
J'en ai forcément beaucoup, mais je dirai la Dragon Bal à Beauduc en 1996 avec son mythique levé de soleil sur la plage au moment où je prends les platines et succède à Manu Le Malin... juste énorme !

🗣️ Quelle est ta plus grande inspiration ? 
Impossible de ressortir une inspiration plutôt qu'une autre, c'est un tout ! La musique se nourrit de tant de références, de multiples créations... Mais si je ne dois citer qu'un seul artiste de musique électronique, je dirai sans hésiter Laurent Garnier !

🗣️ Et enfin ton morceau du moment ? 
Alors là, je vais la jouer totalement perso : "Soul Harmony" l'EP que je viens tout juste de sortir sur Naeba records... je joue les 2 versions en long, en large et en travers ! et je ne m'en lasse pas...

Prception - Describing An Illustration (Oct 2018)

Interstellar plays a tension between darkness and light, peace and melancholy, hope and longing, joy and self loathing, with commentary on mindfulness and greed. The journey begins with tranquility and ends with intimacy, linked through chaotic - yet relatable - jaunts in mood. In it we find space to introspect on our everyday emotions and the paradoxical struggle to connect to our common humanity.

Disco Space Shuttle parties have been some of my favorite in San Francisco due to soulful music and kind people. At their last party I attended - one year prior - I met three great people who I now consider close friends.

I was honored when the DSS crew invited me to play a 2 hour set to open for their October party. The show was particularly special for me, taking place the week of my birthday at the club I frequent most in SF. It was wonderful to celebrate an inspired year through music and dance with my parents and dear friends.

Our 25th Anniversary slot this week features Richard Dorfmeister who appeared on the show in 2003 and featured many times as one half of Kruder and Dorfmeister, as well as his project Tosca with Rupert Huber, amongst others. Opening with ECM artist Steve Tibbetts, his mix floats between Gui Boratto, his own lush edit for Selah Sue, acoustic guitar of Jeb Loy Nichols and the dubbed out Rhythm & Sound featuring Cornell Campbell on vocals. He then weaves through Pat Metheney, the dub version of Sunset from Grace Jones' last album, blues from Ry Cooder and ending with a couple of tracks from his recent Tosca album 'Odeon'.

One of the prior motives, why we created Vehemence, was to build a comprehensive platform that would host the expression and hard work of DJs, producers, and artists in general. We encourage you to feel free in your approach to us because this is the only way we can all grow together and focus the spotlight on talents that are worth following.
	
Today, we salute with great enthusiasm the initiative for collaboration by @prception. As part of the Demure Circle collective, this French-born, San Francisco-based artist has been organizing a variety of events in San Francisco and the area since 2018. “Our narratives are told through the music we play and stories we paint” - their manifesto is quite loud and clear: removing the dividing line imposed by our ego and reconnecting our core bonds by music, dancing, and mutual understanding.
 
Prception offers our listeners a 75-minute long “basement mix” - an affirmation of the incentive behind his creative force while exploring our reaction to obscure, dub, and ambient techno beyond the perceptual bias.
