The gong is joined by loops of slow samples of organic instruments, subtractive synthesis and nylon string guitar. Recorded in 2015 by Dr. Dennis Tirch and Mark Christensen as complimentary music for deep relaxation, mindfulness of sound practice and yoga nidra exercises.

I would love to know who composed and recorded this. When I first heard it, I found it discordant and jarring. I have listened to it three times in the last 12 hours, and it has been very helpful to me.

Curso: Monique Wittg y el pensamiento heterosexual

En esta sesión abordaremos la discusión que se establece entorno a la definición y autodefinición de la identidad a partir de la puesta en relación de la obras de Michael Foucault, Judith Butler y Monique Wittig. Wittig entiende el concepto de “mujer” como una construcción cultural de la sociedad que no está determinada por algún factor biológico, psicológico o económico, idea que retomará Judith Butler. A partir de esta línea compartida, Butler formula una serie de críticas a la obra de Monique Wittig en las que impugna los términos en que esta última habría reformulado las tareas del feminismo. Entre otras cosas, Butler no solo censura la ontología discursiva presupuesta por Wittig, sino que subraya el carácter opresivo y excluyente de las estrategias de resignificación radical a que aquélla da lugar.

Persuadida de que el «sexo» en tanto «interpretación política y cultural del cuerpo» supone un sistema de significación que es opresivo para mujeres, gays y lesbianas, Wittig propone revertir dicho abuso derrocando la gramática misma que instituye al «género» como un atributo esencial de los seres humanos. En palabras de Butler, «Wittig considera que categorías discursivas como ‘sexo’ son abstracciones impuestas por la fuerza sobre el campo social, y que producen una ‘realidad’ de segundo orden o reificada». En otras palabras, Wittig entiende que la dominación se produce en y a través del lenguaje en tanto es capaz de crear una ontología artificial que genera disparidad y asimetría entre los cuerpos sexuados. Esta creación lingüística de «lo socialmente real» presupone, a juicio de Butler, dos órdenes ontológicos bien diferenciados: una ontología socialmente constituida, de segundo orden, que se asienta sobre otra más fundamental, presocial y prediscursiva, capaz de explicar la constitución de lo discursivo en sí, como explica Mattio.

Javier Sáez es traductor junto con Paco Vidarte de "El pensamiento heterosexual y otros ensayos" de Monique Wittig, publicado por Egales en 2006.

To get good recordings of birds you have to come close. On way of achieving this is to work with concealed microphones. It’s not easy to predict where the target bird/s will be, and I regularly fail in my attempts, but occasionally I succeed. I scouted a semi-open sandy area – a former tree seed orchard –  where I had encountered lekking Black Grouse last year, and hid a small stereo lavalier microphone overnight in the crown of an isolated small pine tree. One by one the Black Grouse males arrived in the late evening hours and immediately began displaying around the small pine tree.
