As a guiding influence for the labels he manages: trueColors + Earthly Delights, he has supported and promoted quality music for a decade. A familiar face to us at Depth, with a strong reputation both here in Australia and abroad, he has been continuing to impress with his unique style of house music.

DEPTH. PERCEPTION with RETZA

One of Melbourne's true hidden gems, Dave Leck (soundcloud.com/daveleckmusic) joins us for the second episode of the series. Dave's sound is the perfect blend of smooth, melodic, progressive house with a balanced undertone of grooving basslines. As of late, making serious waves internationally, he has found himself releasing on labels such as 3rd Avenue, Emotional Content Records, inU and Particles to name a few. 

Listening closely to Leck’s music we knew he would fit the brief perfectly for our new concept and we had to have him on board. A true gentleman, with a mature ear for production, he will continue to impress both world-wide and here in Australia.

Funkform hailing from Cairns, Far North Queensland is one of DEPTH's not only favourite artists, but a true friend. Taking part in our early movements as a collective back in 2013, rolling through to our brand-new concept, DEPTH PERCEPTION based here in Victoria.   

A true master of progressive house, playing some of the biggest and best stages and festivals here in Australia, from coast to coast. With releases on labels such as Open Records, Meanwhile Recordings, Vapour and self-releasing numerous albums under his Funktober concept, Maddy continues to impress and deliver the finest electronic music.

DEPTH. PERCEPTION with FUNKFORM

Timmus takes us on a mystical journey through his signature sound for the fourth instalment of the Perception series. This is an extremely special episode to us hosting our first ever album showcase, letting Timmus present his musical productions live in a scenic outdoor environment. We were gifted with a moody and foggy morning in a forest location in the Victorian mountain ranges, which suited the soundtrack perfectly.

‘The Bridge’ has been in creation for the past couple of years, with Timmus stating it to be his best work to date. After listening closely to the entirety of the collection, we couldn’t agree more. Featuring smooth deep house grooves, weaving through quirky complex micro house, and followed by a flavoursome serving of upbeat minimal tech. This creation covers all styles Timmus represents so perfectly, and he does so in such style. A true performer while on stage, he does not disappoint with his eclectic dance and visual display of the music he is presenting to the world.

The album has just been released through Melbourne’s very own Smash Bang Records, with a string of album launch events to follow around the country. But here we present to you ‘The Bridge’ live in 4K from one of the countries favourite producers, Timmus.

DEPTH. PERCEPTION With TIMMUS

As a female Chilean producer based in Lausanne, Switzerland, Masaya began scouring the clubs of the Swiss scene from the age of 15 In 2001  she decided to enter the world of djing. She rapidly obtained a residency at the D! Club in Lausanne, which opened the doors of the  Swiss and international scene to her. 

In 2005 she started producing her own sounds and decided to create her own label “Mina Records” with the aim of providing a platform for new talent and remixes from artists such as Ripperton, Dave Dk, Petar Dundov, Dana Ruh, Sei A. 

The goal of her label is to offer a more feminine and sensual touch, in a  world, which at the time was mostly male. Whether you like music to dream to or to dance to, Mina surprises with tracks that are very different from each other, offering tribal atmospheres, hypnotic vocals, and seductive ambiances. 

From 2010 to 2017, she presented the show "Atakama" on Couleur 3, one of the biggest national alternative radio stations in Switzerland, covering a wide range of musical styles, from hip-hop to electro-pop to dark techno or house... 

In 2017 she released her first album, "Picking of the Pieces" on the label  “Chapter 24”, which included remixes by Ripperton, Petar Dundov,  Johannes Brecht, Patrice Baumel, allowing her to extend her technique and perform live in particular for the Swiss Festival: Label Suisse or even for Dj Mag in London. 

Since then, after a short break to focus on production, Claudya aka  Masaya, in her desire to evolve in different musical universes, returns by relaunching her label with her own productions under her pseudo-claudia. The next release is scheduled for September 2021 in  collaboration with Ripperton 

After a long period in the studio, almost all 2022, Masaya launched “Little  Brother” on Bedrock label and also was included in “Quattro” EP  compilation in December by Bedrock as well. 

As you see this 2023 Masaya is ready to burn the dance floor again.

After a short hiatus to regroup and brainstorm at DEPTH. HQ, we return to our beloved Perception series with an artist pushing the boundaries with his own distinctive sound. Next up performing his original music is none other than Mount Mike. 

A well known and loved figure within the electronic music scene here in Australia, Mike is one of the brains behind Premium Tuna. A radio show presenting some of the best local artists and showcasing their music over the KISS FM airwaves. 

He has been living between Canada and Australia over the past few years, and honing his sound by blending deep, quirky tech house, with influences of acid and 2000’s electro. With a string of releases to his name, he has been working with some incredible artists from across the globe. Collaborating with names such as Boy Oh Boy, Savaggio, Fosters, Gilles Bernies, and attracting remixes from artists like Kellerkind, Joe Miller, Connor Mac, Sparrow and Barborossa, Rem Siman and more. 

A dark moody sunset was the backdrop for the performance, filmed right on the coastline here in Victoria. Mount Mike guides us through a very unique set list of his music. Plenty of unreleased tracks, featuring vocals, acid basslines, chopped percussion grooves, which move through various styles of his signature sound. So, strap yourself in as we embark on a journey to Mount Mike.

We’re pleased to be back with another episode for the series, kicking off the month of September as we head towards the warmer months. Melbourne is spoilt for choice with electronic artists, however finding truly unique talent who are doing things differently can be hard to find. We feel the next artist to take control of the PERCEPTION booth fits that brief perfectly and we’d love to welcome Jules Etro. Etro is the first artist to perform with a totally DAWless set up with his signature down tempo and electronica productions. 

We first became aware of Jules when performing his debut live show at the recent Chi Wow Wah Town Festival where he graced the main stage. Since then, we’ve become more familiar with his music and admired the way he performs his tracks in a live format. His signature piece of equipment and the brain behind his operation is the Deluge. Accompanying this particular piece of kit is various hardware and outboard gear such as the Pioneer SP-16 sampler, Vongon Polyphrase delay pedal, Plinky Modular Synthesizer and the OMX-27 all working together to form a unique and impressive way of presenting his sound. 

We are extremely happy to have Jules Etro perform an hour of all original unreleased music on a chilly winters morning, with a beautiful sunrise setting the backdrop for his sound. This set represents a smooth flowing journey through downtempo, electronica and organic house and is a perfect way to relax and enjoy Australia’s beautiful landscapes in 4k. We hope you enjoy the sounds of Etro as much as us.
