We're excited about VDS Podcast Nr.022 - our last VDS Podcast for the year of 2022! Closing this amazing year with a seasonal atmospherical string-packed journey is none other than one of the heads behind the legendary Pingipung label, Mme Bing from Hamburg, Germany.

Mme Bing, aka Andrea Wienck, is a passionate vinyl collector. She has honed her musical taste while co-running the Pingipung label for over a decade, as well as by working in record shops. She prefers her melodies raw and gloomy, and she selects them very carefully - it’s a rare but always delightful moment to catch her live at the decks.

Dive into this beauty of strings, guitars and melancholic melodies, which Mme Bing herself calls “The heart as a paperweight”. Mme Bing recommends listening to this set with a purring cat on your chest.

For the RESONICA REC. number 6, we are honoured to welcome Kalabrese, a very talented artist that has been crafting his sounds since a long time. 
 
Sasha Winkler (aka Kalabrese) does not need much introduction. Last year, during the ATTO project festival in Lausanne (now called RESONICA), he graced us with his sounds while the last sunglight was warming up the dancefloor - a moment in time to remember. Thank you for this. 

He is one of the most glittering characters in Zurich’s music scene and long lasting owner of the famous Zukunft Club. He has his very own style as a producer, creating a stir around the globe. Not to forget, his band “rumpelfunk” performs in a very special way - the stage is usually filled with various artists, who perfectly synchronize and where creativity and spontaeity have their own space. Please go listen to „let love rumpel part 1“ and „let love rumpel part 2“, a marvellously light and warm dance. The music goes to the hip and to the heart and automatically we start to dance. It is very clear, through his passion and dedication, Kalabrese developed his very own signature sound which feels like coming home and diving into his universe.

For the Berlin-based music lover, a good DJ set always calls for a few proper pop moments to resonate with the audience. As a curator he’s open to all sorts of genres, as DJ he’s mostly focussing on soulful house music, disco and retro-driven 90s rave vibes, he also shares a deep love for other grooving genres from funk to 80s hi-energy. In the end, it’s all about the fun and life-affirming communal power of a shared dancefloor. Besides these musical endeavours he also runs a mixtape project and sends out a regular mailout with musical recommendations.

Nova Tropica Vol. 6 - Burnout Sumner

This track is a reinterpretation of Nostalgia, a track released earlier this year on Plurpura Records' Duality compilation. This time, it features the vocals of Baridi Baridi, a wonderful artist and friend I had the pleasure of meeting in person late last year. We took that time to listen to this track together, imagining the moment it would be released. I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed the creation process. 
For that bittersweet feeling that envelops you when recalling past moments that now only live in memory; for that bridge connecting a present thought with memories of moments that no longer exist; for that mix of joy and melancholy for something that marked you but is simply no longer there. “Nostalgia"

Last year we spent some time in Bali at Potato Head (@potatoheadmusic). Alongside my night time gig I asked them if I could play a "sunset set" by the beach. Instead a biblical thunderstorm rolled through and we all huddled under the covers.
