Next up on Industry Standard we welcome one of Oliver’s friends and collaborators from Melbourne, Australia, Ben Silver. Having released on Refuge Recordings, and soon to feature on a collaboration with Oliver on Rekids, it’s a pleasure to welcome to Ben to the IS Music family. Oliver often spends time working on music in the awesome ‘Silver Studio’ in Melbourne when he’s on tour, so it’s only right to get some of Ben’s music hot of the desk.

Ben has delivered a great 2 track release for us. The A-side ‘F So Good’ is carried by an energetic B-line, and gospel style church clapping, with the looping vocal locking the groove in. The infectious keys then take the track to the next level. This is peak, quality underground house music.

On the B-side Ben takes things deeper… ‘In The Cage’ is an ode to the DJ Booth of Revolver Upstairs, Melbourne, where he’s one of the resident DJ’s. This low slung track oozes quality with its spoken word vocal, jazzy keys and lush chord pads.

This is an outstanding debut on Industry Standard for Ben Silver. We hope you love it as much as we do!

Come On is a tight, old-skool referencing house track built around a ravey vocal sample, a classic chord progression and tight, funky drum programming. 

Clearly deeply infatuated with the early days of US house, the original is all vibe. 

UK based house producer CASSIMM contributes a remix, that leans into the old skool vibe but adds layers that are more techier and driving.  


The shimmering synth stabs and effects add a new dimension to the track - a more streamlined and minimal aesthetic.

Cody Currie & Kapote together in the studio! Delivering a 4 track EP that connects proto-disco, neo soul, Chicago house beats and jazz funk in a very spontaneous, super catchy way.
Cody, the London multi-talent musician, and Kapote, the Berlin-based creative head of Toy Tonics have a lot in common. Both come from studying jazz, knowing different instruments, having played in bands, and at the same time being DJs with a huge passion and the skill to rock thousands of people every weekend at the Toy Tonics Jams with a wild mix of different music. They have what we call THE VIBE. Soulful, catchy, intense. When they play records at a party and when they work on tracks. Both play keyboards, bass, guitar, and drums. Both sing. And both have funny nicknames that journalists gave them: Cody Currie was called “the Tom Misch of House music” and Kapote the “Wes Anderson of electronic music”. Makes us laugh but also fits well. And yes: Both are a bit crazy... like every extremely talented musician.

Dusky techno disco tools on this fifth new one from Shadow Pressings, a UK outfit who've here nonetheless titularly alluded to the Chicago house scene. Of course, not all of us can afford to fly out to Illinois on a whim, and many of us prefer instead to let the city's long-release intoxicant effect run its course on the collective ear from a distance. The label-artist here proffers the gruffer stuff, from the grunting percs of 'Tears' through to the smoother high piquancies of 'Lost In The Dance', both of which nail that irreverent, not-too-much mood innate to all the best dance music.
