This song began more than a year ago, when Josh created a song out of a looper beat with his four string fretless bass. It sat on the shelf until a few weeks ago, when he shared it with JJ, who was in creative mode one Saturday evening. Josh had actually forgotten that he'd added a bass line to it, and thought he was just passing on a looper beat for JJ to play with. 
  However, JJ heard it, and was so excited that added his magical electric piano part, making it sound like a real song, instead of just drums and a bass. Ken also heard some magic in here, because he came up with his own brilliant beat to replace the looper that was used in for the seed. Mark was next to throw in, adding the striking drum pattern breakdown, and the thrilling flute solo, as well. Tez came in shortly after, adding his thrilling guitar to the mix. After everyone had added their parts, Josh came back and added two guitar parts, the simple low end line, as well as the high strumed triads. At this stage, Mark did some editing, as it is in his skill set, and made it less dense and easier to listen to. 
  Now that the song was musically complete, out newest member, Carl, dropped the amazing vocals you hear, singing his original lyrics. After Carl was done sprinkling his magic in it, we needed an able producer to bring out the magic of the recordings. Good thing we have a trained producer to do the job in Stephen, who mixed and mastered it superbly, as always. 
  This is Eclectic Collective's first fore into the afrobeat genre, although a few of us are really big fans already, and Josh has a few other originals in this genre buried on his page, as well. As always, we all enjoyed the process of hearing this one come together. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

"tote liebe" grew from my instrumental Yearning, merging its melancholic string writing with a dark, epic vocal delivery.
This song is written to invite multiple readings — whether you hear a lost love, an unbroken obsession, or a dialogue with the shadow/self is entirely up to you.

Violin color
Lead lines use Virharmonic’s Bohemian Violin for feather-light bowing, intimate vibrato and fluid performance legato — a fragile, breathing tone that carries the lament.

Vocal disclosure (ACE Studio)
The voice is rendered with ACE Studio because no suitable singer was available in time. Melody, phrasing, dynamics and expression were composed and designed by me. I care about real, honest music: composition, arrangement, performance design, mixing & mastering are hand-crafted; ACE only renders the vocal line I wrote.

What to listen for

Slow, elastic phrases above restrained percussion; violin and low pads build tension.

Verse: close, chest-heavy voice; Chorus: wider, more distorted harmonics.

Bridge: violin answers the vocal in sighing intervals, then falls back into silence.

"tote liebe" ist aus meinem Instrumental Yearning entstanden und verbindet dessen melancholische Streicher & Piano mit einem düsteren, epischen Gesang.
Der Text ist so gestaltet, dass mehrere Deutungen möglich sind – ob verlorene Liebe, ungebrochene Obsession oder ein Zwiegespräch mit dem Schatten/Ich, entscheidet ihr beim Hören.

Violine

The world was still asleep in the quiet moments before dawn when a polite knock interrupted the silence. When she reached the door, the only sign of a visitor was the faint sound of a carriage disappearing into the distance. On the porch was a single, ornate invitation, its wax seal still intact. Rapture is a new collaboration between the Beating Edge and Joe Stroffolino, following the awesome 'Asteroids (The Original Was Better) (https://soundcloud.com/beatingedge/asteroids-the-original-was). Joe wrote both the lyrics and the original music, while the Beating Edge rearranged and recorded it in a punchy rock style, adding driving guitars, strong rhythm, and dynamic choruses. Vocals feature Tom on lead, with Joe and Mary contributing both backing vocals and lead parts on certain verses and the bridge, creating a layered and energetic vocal texture.
The song explores the absurdity and irony of doomsday prophecies, the obsession with the rapture, and the endless cycle of believers and false prophets. here comes the last of the three works on ‘retrospective future’.

background: as alarming as the scenarios are that scientists predict for the year 2100 if there is no rapid change in the way we treat our environment, this future still feels like abstract sci-fi, just beyond our imagination – more than twice as far away as the year 2001 was when kubrick's ‘a space odyssey’ came out.

but then, we watch our granddaughter, who just turned three, riding her scooter, screaming with joy. we realize how incredibly quickly time has passed since we were her age. and we have to think that in 2100, she will be only slightly older than we are today. and suddenly, 2100 becomes just one heartbeat away, an infinitely sad one.

I wrote 'scooting aleece' which originally dealt with a wild friend of us 40 years ago and we loved singing it at our all-night parties for two, albeit with different lyrics. recently, I rewrote the lyrics as a dedication to our granddaughter for the reasons mentioned above. to her and to all other kids her age.

while working on the AI vocals for the original 4/4 arrangement, for some reason I kept hearing a 3/4 beat in my head, which completely turned the entire compositional concept on its head. so, after creating the first version, which was faithful to the original, I created a second one that was completely different. and because it also featured a vocal premiere, I’d like to share this second version first. the first one will come later, if anyone is interested.

The music for this song was written years ago for a different band I was in.  The original title was "Where's Tomorrow Go?" and had different lyrics, and was sung by another singer.  Unfortunately, that band is no longer active, and I always liked the instrumental I'd made for this tune, so I finally decided to redo it with my own lyrics and vocals.  I figure a more serious song is in order after my last upload.  I hope you enjoy!
