For several years now ISLA has been serving up the best in ambient, experimental and trance-driven creations, welcoming artists like Ambien Baby, D.Tiffany, Pillow Queen, NAP and Le Fe to the label. Next up they've called on Maara for 'A Potion Activated', marking her second EP following a debut on Priori and Ex-Terrestrial's NAFF imprint. Sometimes she felt she belonged up their amongst the stars; earth wasn't for her, she didn't feel as though she belonged anywhere. Could technology make it possible and were money no option, she'd have packed her bags long ago and headed far above the planet. For now she'd have to continue to dream. 

R.A.N.D. Muzik Recordings keep up their stellar output with a new release from Reflex Blue, a new name on the block in Australia. The label have long been one of our go-tos for a solid dose of house, electro, techno and breaks; and this new instalment doesn't disappoint. The second night of HARD Summer 2015, Ty told me he wanted to go back in the studio. He could only do it the next day, So, I went down to his house with Waxy and he just started singing, ‘I’m for real’ ‘I’m for real’ over this beat we had written. I had already spoken to Makonnen about the track, so Ty shouted him out. Makonnen then returned the favor. After we got all the vocals back we were like dam we need to make this track the best it can be. We went back in and re-worked the entire thing. Wax brought in his homie Stylaz Fuego to make it even tighter and 6 months later bang here we go.  G-House 2.0

Just short of their milestone tenth release, Haŵs pulls up the inimitable DJ Chupacabra (and alias of Davide Piras) for his debut. ‘Yard Club’ takes the intimacy of hazy, expectant dancefloors and transfers it into four subtle shades that demonstrate the understated power of the warmup track – or the after-hours wind-down. 

It’s a neat pool of stripped-back UKG and house that brings up the same delicious sensations of a rollercoaster slowly approaching its descent or recovering from its fall. Where these tools get put into practice is totally up to imagination.
