After a busy Spring with the launch of her Neverwhere Radio show, new tracks on Get Physical and mixing their latest Full Body Workout compilation, CAMEA sets the stage for summer with her next Bpitch Control installment. This will be CAMEA‘s third solo release on Ellen Allien’s imprint, following up her highly acclaimed ‘City Watch Over Me’ and ‘Neverwhere’ singles, as well as a vinyl only remix project featuring Deadbeat, Locked Groove and Lee Jones. Now the Seattle-born artist and Berlin resident contributes a great three-track collection for her new single titled, ’The Hallway’, out in vinyl and digital format.
In this selection, CAMEA continues to lay the foundation for her experimental combination of deep house and tech- no with a collection of three mind-bending pieces. The A side track, Wormhole, is a peak time techno space burner for the main stage, while the B-side goes deeper with two kaleidoscopic tech house tunes. The titled track, ‚The Hallway’, is a psychotropic and funky descent, layered with trippy vocals and spaced-out melodies, all connected by an irresistibly towering peak. Finally, ‘Orchestra of Dreams’ concludes her release with a harmonious and passionate dance ballad, rippling it’s way in and out of FM synthesis and orchestral harmonies for an eerie and elegant piece. CAMEA’s sound and ideas speak loudly on this release, sharing with us another part of her journey and adding ano- ther essential piece to her discography and the Bpitch archive.

In olden times, branding someone a heretic was probably a significantly worse offence than it is now. You could probably get away with calling the old bill heretics and, by the time they'd managed to look up what it means on the interwebs, you could be long gone with the wind in your hair and a smile on your face.

This such Heretic, however, is proud to adorn his title and it seems as though legions are flocking to his sound - the likes of Andrew Weatherall, Sean Johnston, Antoni Maiovvi and Front De Cadeaux have all provided remixes of his track 'Pollux' which is an icy spaced out ride through the cosmos. Whatever that means. 

So check that your engine is running, secure your safety harness and prepare for blast off as Heretic is about to take you on one hell of a journey. Very, very good.

For its second release, Japanese label Blindetonation turns to The Sonic Emporium for a six track pack that features two top originals as well as fascinating remixes by Heretic, William Earl and Alejandro Molinari.
Blindetonation is an outlet for all manner of chugging disco sounds as influenced by label boss Kezokichi’s time in London DJing and hosting his own Back To Back events. The man behind the latest release is UK star The Sonic Emporium, who distills a love of all forms of dance music and a decade DJing and producing into his own intoxicating jams. He releases on Join Our Club and Wax: On and plies his wares all over the globe.
His first cut here, ‘Gemini Seven’ is a robust composition that has a sticky, stuttering bassline underpinning some ornamental synth patterns, spoken word vocal samples and dark drums. Tough to categorise but sure to do damage on machine music loving dance floors, it’s a fine opener. Remixing is William Earl, a UK talent just starting out but who is already impressing with his earliest forays. This one is a case in point: it’s a cosmic, deep and delicious rework with plunging bass, reverb heavy vocals and plenty of skyward melody.
The Sonic Emporium’s other original is ‘What Do You Think You Saw’ a much less oppressive affair with watery droplets, whining pads and chugging disco drums. It has freewheeling melodies rolling off the groove and is the sort of thing that takes dance floors higher and higher.
Heretic turns out two remixes of this one, with the first being a super slow and captivating chugger that traps you in a swampy groove and doesn’t let go. Instead, it treats you to a melodic opening of the clouds above your very head that offers a direct view into a perfectly cosmic sky. The second is a rock infused number with raucous drums that encourage you to get loose and is much more tense and tortured sounding. Italian DJ, composer and producer Alejandro Molinari then steps up for a remix and flips the track into a wonderful, beguiling affair that is both dark and menacing and freewheeling and summery. Colourful chords and quirky percussive patterns wrestle with churning drums and the result is a hugely refreshing, slowly hypnotic track.
This is a diverse disco package that takes the genre into titillating and unknown new territory.

The “Anti-Normal” EP is inspired by moments that happen at parties and clubs. The moment when the vibe is so intense that your skin tingles (Anti-Normal). The moment when everything feels a bit...weird (No Sitting). The moment when your friend gets lost in the party and starts acting a little ridiculous (It’s Fucking Bumping in Here, Dude). The moment when you lose your ego in a pitch-black warehouse (Aphotic). And finally, the moment when you fall in love… and the moment when it all goes wrong (Dancing With A Demon).

Darkly lush at times, and mischievously playful at others, the EP pays homage to classic Detroit techno while remaining fresh, modern and unique. Through careful synthesis, Asher has crafted an otherworldly soundscape, ensuring that the individual personalities of each layer are distinctively showcased. The breakdowns are meditative, playfully embracing the absence of sound. The sparsity often gives the illusion of an alteration in rhythm, causing the listener to feel as though they are free falling. When the intensity returns, a sonic adrenaline rush fills the dance floor with a feeling of absolute euphoria.

In Asher’s words, “Anti-Normal, more than a synonym for abnormal, describes an active aversion to normalcy. In my experience, the best people are those who confidently enjoy their own quirks… Those who aren’t afraid to be looked at as a little different. Especially within the world of dance music, I think it’s important to push the envelope as far as possible, both musically and otherwise.”

"Shake That!" is a song by German band Scooter.  Shake the Mind however is a far superior track by Matt Walsh. It is by all accounts a bit of a belter. 

Matt Walsh has been lurking in our ears for many a year now. We're massive fans of his consistently and increasingly excellent Clouded Vision label. So much so he was one of our early Label Love-ees. With this new release though we think he's really hit on something rather special. 

Mr Daniel Avery has turned in a remix on the flip of this double A-Side but our vote sits firmly in the Original camp on this one... good job he's been so kind as to premiere it really isn't it?

PREMIERE: Matt Walsh - Shake The Mind - Clouded Vision

Correspondant present the vinyl sampler for their 3rd label compilation. Following in the success of the previous two entries in the series, this latest edition provides a perfect snapshot of how the relatively young label has matured over three years, with contributions from a range of artists including big names (such as Roman Flügel and Chloe), close Correspondant family (like Man Power and Red Axes), and exciting new rising talent (including Bird of Paradise and Sigward).

With eight tracks, split over two records, Compilation 03 sees curator and label owner, Jennifer Cardini, displaying an even wider musical breadth than the previous two compilation incarnations, but still represents the undefinable yet unmistakable sound which truly marks out Correspondant as unique.

Correspondant Compilation 03 is due out via Correspondant on June 15.

For ages nighttime was said to be the time of ghosts and spirits. Creatures of the night were believed to gain special powers between 
midnight and dawn. In latin this shrouded in mystery lapse of time was called "intempesta" - time without time. 
Detlef Weinrich, alias Toulouse Low Trax, too, seems to have lingered in the irrational universe of frozen continuity quite frequently within the 
last two years. Everyone who drifts to the sound of his first solo album "Mask Talk" will soon sense the musical intensity boding a different 
dancefloor. 
Cool, atmospheric new-wave-sharpness, and a cushioned beat rate between 107 and 116 bpm call out a mechanical functionality that 
doesn't bow to any contemporary doctrine. "Mask Talk": urban music, club album. Big city lights in Africa. Chilly neon-sounds made in 
Dusseldorf. 
As a member of Kreidler, Weinrich just recently participated in the trio's newly found cosmic vibes, as well as in their album "Mosaik 
2014". Now, with his solo project, he is demonstrating that a MPC and a small synthesizer-ensemble are enough to bring alive futuristic 
dance music in the here and now. 
Bedroom-recorded under tense creative circumstances, the ten tracks invoke, mostly instrumentally, an eerie atmosphere that would fit in 
perfectly with an early John Carpenter movie. The tracks' volume sounds as if a whole band had been at work in Weinrichs own four walls. 
With plenty delay on the bass figures, compact analogue effects, percussive dabs and a rough blend of layers, Weinrich has, without any 
digital support, created quivering drum machine music, whose dancability he was able to test regularly as a resident DJ and co-owner of 
the Dusseldof-based club/ bar "Salon Des Amateurs". His new tracks breathe the hypnotic power of his DJ sets, where he arranges 
diverse rhythms between krautrock, cosmic, electronic and acid. They also remind of analogue-electronical pioneers such as Cluster or 
Peter Baumann. Also 1980s avant-gardists Cabaret Voltaire or Zazou Bikaye have left their mark, without Toulouse Low Trax explicitely 
referring to them. 
All tracks are committed to experiment. They leave room for every sound without neglecting rhythmical clarity. A dark, urban solanum, full of 
reverb, whose melodies are never prankish, but whose minimal nonchalance is sure to help not only the dark creatures through the night. 
"Form is essence brought to the surface" Victor Hugo wrote 150 years ago. "Mask Talk" is reasserting this theory as a destillate of an 
operating procedure seeking to subvert ingrained listening habits and to resharpen the contours of the audible. Electronic music beyond 
any categorisation, whose sounds and rhythmics grow to an emotional atmosphere that far exceeds the immediately hearable.
