Michael Walken is a producer of melodic house and techno, progressive house, deep house and electronica from Windsor UK.

Michael had support for his records over 8 years ago from some great names such as Orbital, SLAM, hernan cattaneo and many others, then took a break.
In 2020 Michael came back with a new ep and a track on Traum Schallplatten compilation seeing Michael move into melodic techno from his detroit techno love in the 2012 - 2014 era.

From this Michael got in contact with his music idol Gabriel Ananda and soon released an ep on Gabriels Soulful Techno called 'Peace In the Middle East'. On this ep Michael got to work with Gabriel himself on a track called 'Peace Agreement', which is now at number 3 in the Soulful Techno beatport chart behind Gabriel Ananda remixes and Einmusik.

Since then Michael has become a resident with a monthly show called 'The Basement Tapes' on beach-radio.co.uk, and now just achieved a Frisky-radio.com and has done a good amount of mixes for circle on ibiza live radio, melodic.deep.house and many soundcloud channel mixes and guest slots for labels such as French label Faites leur des disques, and recently Bloop radio London Guest mix.

Michaels is now releasing a free download reworks EP of melancholic songs he really loved to remix including Billie Eilish, Lana Del Rey and Nick Cave a personal favourite band of Michaels with the Bad Seeds. The EP ranges from melodic techno and progressive house to melodic house and breakbeat. These songs can all be found in his latest Frisky Artist of the Week guest mix. This EP has got some amazing support from a range of big names and legends from the house, techno and trance worlds. Names such as  Sasha, John Digweed and Dixon, SLAM, Blondish, Paul Oakenfold, Above and beyond, Armin Van Buuren, PVD, Danny Tenaglia, Airwave and Markus Schulz, Cevin Fisher, Cream, Chris Fortier, Mila Journee, Newman, Shane54 and lots more.

Tash's Movement Recordings rounds out the month of July by welcoming Alfonso Muchacho to the label for a new EP. With a career that spans over a decade, the UK artist found his footing early on, showcasing his music via long standing imprints such as Bonzai Records and Beatfreak Recordings, while progressive music tastemakers such as Hernan Cattaneo quickly took a liking to his dance floor minded creations. 2019 marked Alfonso's Movement Recordings debut in the form of the well-received 'Stranger Danger' EP. A bond with the label was nurtured going forward, with the London resident returning in 2020 with a powerful remix of Forniva's 'Tinkerbell', before going on to deliver his second EP project 'Walk on Water' in April of this year. Now on the strength of a new single for his Above The Ground imprint, Alfonso returns to Movement with a three track showcase entitled 'Astral'.

Beginning with the title selection, Alfonso crafts a sleek framework of punchy beats and well carved grooves. Its rhythmic energy grows quickly, as waves of percussion, striking chord stabs and sweeping effects add drive across the first act. Cross cultural vocal fragments emerge, carrying emotive chord changes and wispy melodic structures into a break that is both tranquil and timely. The interlude builds tension masterfully, as vocal phrasing opens up against a wall of panoramic synths, eventually breaking off into a thumping finale.

The latest release from Deepwibe Underground welcomes Paul Hamilton and CaThY K to the label for their debut EP. The former, born in Malta and now based in Dubai, is one of the underground’s most highly regarded progressive house artists. Paul has found a home on Armada, Balkan Connection, Droid9, Freegrant Music and Perspectives Digital, while his equally impressive DJ skills have seen him perform at Ministry Of Sound (Dubai) and Godskitchen (Dubai). Also hailing from Malta is CaThY K who has been a fixture of the country’s nightlife for the better part of two decades. Her unique track selection and exquisite programming skills have led her to perform in some of Malta’s trendiest venues alongside top international and Maltese talent. Also well established as producer, CaThY has been perfecting her craft for over six years and lays claim to an impressive resume, with releases via Another Life Music, Droid9, SLC-6 Music and Soundteller Records. Having delivered a track for Deepwibe’s Digital imprint earlier this year, Paul and Cathy now debut on the label’s primary platform with ‘Debauchery’.

Flexing their collaborative powers, the EP begins with the groovy sounds of the title selection. Here Paul and Cathy craft a deep, chunky foundation with a nostalgic tinge, while layers of flickering percussion and ominous atmospheres slowly surround the framework. This is mood setting material at it’s best and while the scope of the journey continues to grow it isn’t until the main break where we get multiple explosions of serotonin. Metallic riffs dominate the centrepiece, creating an electric air, all while maintaining the track’s cool low slung mood.

Selection two ‘Different Intentions’ continues on that same level with deep chugging grooves and exotic drums serving as the backbone for bleepy loops and waves of haunting atmospherics. A well crafted break sits at the core of the journey with nothing big or overblown to ruin the mood, but rather a smooth hazy build into powerful beats and soundscape science.

Rounding out the release is ‘Muusiiqaa’ which is mysterious and mystical from the outset. A heavier emphasis on effects makes for a tripper vibe compared to it’s predecessors, but the same groove-centric appeal ultimately carries the journey towards fluttery second act melodies, before a vortex of percussion and noise spark a commanding drop. Thrilling stuff from Paul and Cathy who make an impressive Deepwibe Underground debut with three dominate progressive creations. Don’t miss it.
