Painting: Pieter Bruegel the Elder, The Wedding Dance
Drollery: something whimsically amusing or funny; an oddly amusing story or jest.
Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1525 – 1569) was one of the most significant Dutch and Flemish Renaissance painters known for his paintings and prints of landscapes and peasant scenes. He was one of the first generation of artists to grow up when religious subjects had ceased to be the dominant subject matter of painting. Bruegel was free to express the feelings and emotions of the day and his insight into human life.  The Wedding Dance reflects a degree of ambiguity. It can both be seen as a commentary on the revelers’ oversexed behavior or as an entertaining and comical composition.  In the sixteenth century, dance was subject to a strict code and regarded by the authorities and church as a social evil. In polite society, people could not swing their arms or legs or laugh too loudly.  The painting expresses the rural liberation from the stricter limits on the urban classes and the times’ expected social standards.  All of Bruegel's paintings come from a period of little more than a decade before his early death, when he was probably in his early forties, and at the height of his powers.

In 40 years of loving classical music, string quartets always seemed a bit chaotic to me; even structured, delicate, mannered Haydn, Mozart, seemed, to me, on the verge of flying out of control. Here is a bass quartet (I like the lower tones of the bowed instruments) that flirts with - no, hugs and squeezes - chaos.

An instrumental odyssey through the infinite. *The Endless Symphony* translates the mathematical beauty of π into music — patterns without repetition, harmony without end. Each movement explores a facet of infinity: creation, balance, entropy, and return. Through orchestral textures, ambient electronics, and minimalist design, Avaline Ingels constructs a sonic architecture that feels both divine and human — precision guided by emotion.  
Piano, harp, and strings trace circular motifs while choirs breathe in golden ratios. Tempos shift by Fibonacci values, phrases extend by digits of π, and melodies evolve like galaxies forming. The album’s structure loops perfectly: the finale’s final drone blends into the prelude’s first chord, forming a seamless circle of sound.  
*The Endless Symphony* is not a story but a mirror of eternity — a composition that, like π itself, continues forever, revealing meaning only through motion.

To every one who leaves a "Like" on my music I say thank you; to me you are a Ministering Angel and I kiss your hands, your fingers; Soundcloud is an Oasis of Positivity; the world outside here howls with negativity and -- perhaps the worst manifestation of negativity -- indifference. Fellow musicians: I'm so impressed with your creativity and imagination, and something I look for in all music - momentum (we know it when we hear it!); let's keep encouraging each other ... I've played guitar since I was ten; took some time off to study literature (Spanish) and travel and work (Europe, Latin America, Japan). I started studying classical guitar in Seattle with Steven Novacek and continued with other teachers and on my own for about ten years. I love just about all music, especially Brazilian, especially guitar, but music of all instruments and from all ages. I've written two novels. Presently I help run Emma's BBQ in Seattle with my wife Tess Thomas; she is a great singer and we like to go out and jam with other Seattle musicians. I love SoundCloud ... so much talent all over!
