An artist who exemplifies the beloved Glitterbox sound, The Shapeshifters aka Simon Marlin returns to the label with ‘Beautiful Day’ featuring vocals from daughter of Soulstress Nina Whitaker, Liisi Lafontaine. Since his acclaimed Glitterbox LP ‘Let Loose’ and subsequent Deluxe edition, which saw the UK household name work with luminaries Billy Porter, Joss Stone, Teni Tinks and CHIC’s Kimberly Davis, Simon has remained one of the world’s most in-demand disco authorities. Now back in the studio after a relentless touring schedule, which saw him ring in the new year at Glitterbox’s Wembley takeover in 2024, Simon foregoes the signature disco strings of recent hits to make way for a heavier and progressive sound, rooted in memories formed at Glitterbox’s Hï Ibiza party and Defected Croatia. This comeback release, ‘Beautiful Day’ features Liisi Lafontaine, an established vocalist with previous credits in Moulin Rouge and Dreamgirls, now recording dance music with the genre’s best; Liisi’s buttery smooth vocals add a cool, downtown vibe to the understated yet powerful production of ‘Beautiful Day’, signalling good club vibes only for summer 2024.

Great Stuff is kicking off the summer season with a classic and very special release. The label is extremely happy and proud to present you with five brand new mixes of Ron Carroll’s year 2000 smash hit “Lucky Star”! 

Holland’s tech house maestro Rene Amesz has been releasing floor fillers on labels like Toolroom, Suara and Spinnin Deep for years. He starts things off here with a supersonic, bass-heavy take on “Lucky Star” that is naughty and filled with ever more energy.

Great Stuff all-star Mike Vale is an important part of the global dance music circuit for years and always delivers the goods in perfect style, and he does so once again here with his heartfelt take on “Lucky Star” that merges flammable beats with tense low frequencies and cosmic sounds.

Originally from Haarlem in the Netherlands, globetrotting from London to Dubai to Barcelona and now living in Ibiza since 2012, Martijn ten Velden has long established himself as a leading DJ/producer on an international level. His version of “Lucky Star” is wonderfully reminding us of the original’s bliss and melodies. It feels colourful, organic yet extremely fresh.

Originally released back in 2006 on Defected, Copyright’s ‘He Is’ remains a beloved dancefloor anthem to this day. The record, which saw the duo return to the US Garage sound that propelled them into clubber’s consciousness at the dawn of the millennium, features a praising vocal from Song Williamson, with charged up keys and rounded groove that gave it its euphoric quality. Now, 14 years after it was first released, two esteemed producers remix the Balearic anthem. Up first, mysterious Detroit collective Scan 7 supply their uplifting mix, as a pumping bassline and funk-laden instrumentals provide a joyous backdrop to Song Williamson’s rejoicing vocal. Up next, Italian powerhouse duo Alaia & Gallo deliver their mix, building on the exhilarating qualities of the original with surging kicks and a punchy beat.
