This mixtape is a depiction of how we would love a Monday morning to sound on any of the islands of the Indian Ocean and that we want to share to the world. Whether you’re on the beach, by a river, on a mountain, in your car or at work there’s a common need to feel positive vibes to start the week at your best.

It features some gems we've found while digging for music in the region and loaded with material that we're restoring for our re-issue catalogue. It also features an upcoming track from the label's Band, Babani Soundsystem.

“Coral Blossom” is a beautiful 14-minute long dream through dramatic piano chords and electronic arpeggios that ripple like water. Taken from ‘Surface Currents’, the beautiful new ambient album by the sonic explorer, producer, filmmaker and multi-instrumentalist known as Kutiman. 

With ‘Surface Currents’, Kutiman intended to create “music for doing things”, a tool to assist his own visual work. However, his experiments with ambient atmospherics and modular experiments produced a beautiful and calming three-part suite that’s perfect for nothing to as well. The tranquility of Kutiman’s isolated life in the Negev Desert comes through as much as the sense of water. 

Kutiman describes himself as having a “compulsion to create”, and he challenged himself to deliver a range of projects over the course of a year, each tapping into a different vein of his musical world. Soaking up the sounds of classical Indian ragas, Terry Riley and William Basinksi, particularly his ‘Water Music’ album, Kutiman was inspired to create his own take on ambient music, in the process, discovering that making long and slow improvisations with one instrument at a time was just as therapeutic.

This is a mix of rare original Finnish 7” records ranging from Jazz to Latin and Exotica hardly ever heard outside of Finland. Some are now over 60 years old but the grooves are still awesome, playing is mellow and swinging and the singing flawless.'

DF Tram is a visionary music producer, DJ, and visual artist renowned for his cinematic and psychedelic fusion of ambient, electronic, and chillout music. Hailing from Los Angeles, his deeply immersive audio-visual performances have captivated audiences and earned the recognition of industry pioneers such as Alex Paterson (The Orb) and 'Youth' Martin Glover (Killing Joke, producer for Paul McCartney & The Verve).

His critically acclaimed album Serenitay Infinitay, released on the legendary Liquid Sound Design label, solidified his reputation as a trailblazer in the chillout music scene. Throughout his career, DF Tram has crafted countless remixes and original works under various aliases, pushing the boundaries of sonic exploration. His unique approach has led to international acclaim, including touring alongside The Orb.

A Driving Force in the Chillout Scene
DF Tram played a pivotal role in shaping and cultivating the ambient and chillout music scene in San Francisco from 1995 to 2018. Over two decades, he curated transformative events, delivered legendary DJ sets, and fostered a thriving community of artists and listeners dedicated to deep, immersive soundscapes. His influence helped establish San Francisco as a global hub for chillout and experimental electronic music, providing an essential space for artistic innovation.

Expanding the Sonic Universe
Beyond music, DF Tram’s artistry spans film, sound design, and immersive storytelling. His collaborations with ambient icons such as The Orb, The Irresistible Force, Afterlife, and Dr. Atmo showcase his ability to create sonic worlds that transcend traditional boundaries. His work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C., and he has been honored with a nomination for an Ibiza DJ Award in the Eclectic category.
