It had been a very long time since he'd come home - he could barely remember the year or season of his last visit. But despite the passing time, little had changed. The same conductor greeted him as the train pulled up to the station; the shop fronts bore the same names and were run by the same faces; and that familiar smell from the bread factory on the corner of town still permeated the air. Even so, there was still a feeling that something was missing, something unexplainable that he couldn't quite put his finger on... maybe it wasn't home, maybe it was him that had changed.

Black Forces made his entrance in 2020 with his politically, emotionally-charged eponymous debut. Released via Mike Simonetti's 2MR imprint, the EP was an introduction to his deep, hazy brand of house and his deftness at crafting infectious energetic beats that stir the mind, body and the soul. His follow up, Black Forces 2, keeps the groove going. Again, finding its place on 2MR, the four-track EP weaves together dusty house jams, shuffling grooves and warm, sultry acid.

Lake People, the man with a knack for aural subtleties, is spot-on with his first EP for Uncanny Valley. Over the course of four tracks he showcases a quiet different approach compared to the sophisticated House music the Leipzig based artist released on labels like Permanent Vacation or Connaisseur Recordings. On “Break
the Pattern” he relies heavily on the good old Boom Tschak-paradigm of Electro, without completely giving up his trademark sound.

More often than not, music acts as a vehicle for emotions, states of mind, or capturing moments in time. Making tangible the intangible, and transporting a brief window into the artist’s mind to a final destination. One that lies squarely with the listener. From there, everything is up for interpretation. 10, 100, a 1000 different people each with their own look through the window. One common theme arising from those myriads of views seems to be an innate desire to find those tracks or songs that evoke a strong emotional response. Tracks that create ‘moments’ for listeners that are inexplicably tied with a setting and transport them back even years later. 

Bearing this in mind, we at Delayed are happy to premiere today, map.ache and his remix of COMA’s ‘A-train’. Much like the smoke that eddies around most of, if not all the Giegling parties, map.ache’s name is closely tied with fondly told stories of those ‘special’ moments. Where people are crying, hugging, overcome with emotion. Moments also coupled with comments like ‘of course it’s map.ache’, that aren’t uncommonly said with a warm smile. As with his past offerings, map.ache gives a bit of a raucous breaky kick to ‘A-train’ and finishes with his signature soaring pads and a melodic crescendo. Certainly, a track to create more of those memorable times for listeners around the globe.

If you enjoyed this track, the rest of the remixes will be out on March 6th, off of City Slang. map.ache’s remix is joined by Lauer, Panthera Krause, Sau Poler, Julian Stetter and Kino Todo to fill out an incredibly solid release.

New! What, an adjective. Entirely subjective, or objective depending on your perspective. The harbinger of quality perhaps, or simply that of a flash of brilliance, gone quicker than the blink of an eye. New can be used for many things, however, today’s focus of an oft favorite adjective falls on the shoulders of Melbourne based DJ, and producer, Kia, her label, and a cadre of fellow artists. 

Animalia as a label is new in every sense of the word, and in every sense, the best possible. Much like her mixes, Kia has curated an intricate selection from the thriving Melbourne scene that ticks every box for a burgeoning label. A proverbial shot across the musical bow if you will.

Our shot for today comes in the form of Dashiell & Sam Brickel and ‘Run Out Groove’. Nestled nicely among the other breakish tunes of Animalia 001, ‘Run Out Groove’ provides just as the name implies. Grooves with undulating synths and flashy acid highlights, persisting throughout to provide a top tier atmosphere. We’ll be watching, with ears wide open here at Delayed for what new things come out of Animalia, and we hope you do as well.

The 20th anniversary year of Dial Records couldn’t have been more exciting for us so far! After the extraordinary well-received release of Soela’s debut-album Genuine Silk and steady excitement around our ongoing series of digital anniversary compilations, we are more than thrilled to announce the second album release of this very special year: XDB - INSPIRON. As a longtime companion and true inspiration throughout the label’s twenty-year history, Kosta Athanassiadis aka XDB enriched our lives with his brilliant productions in the form of countless 12”s and legendary remixes. His long-overdue full-length debut album Inspiron in hand, we find ourselves unpacking the most beautiful jubilee present we could have ever imagined. 

For almost three decades now Kosta Athanassiadis aka XDB has been involved in the constantly changing world of dance music. His curiosity and dedication to electronic music spiral deep into the depth of House Music and Techno and where ever he appears he generously shares his unique knowledge in this field with equally dedicated crowds. Whether you follow his bloggish “Tracks I do really LOVE”, a collection of club essentials and a library of taste, or you witness one of his remarkable DJ sets from Panorama Bar to Freerotation Festival - XDB will  elevate you to one of those unforgettably magical music moments.

In 1993 Kosta Athanassiadis started his DJ career in the medieval hometown of Goettingen. To find what he was really looking for, namely, the newest and most exciting new records he frequently had to leave this picturesque city, that is most popular for inventing the traditional Baumkuchen pastry, but has not been on the maps of music connoisseurs necessarily. Frequent trips to visit records stores and clubs around Germany built a network of likely minded people. Some of his favorite and most thought after record labels of the time like the Chicago imprint Relief, or UK's Mosaic, are still fundamental to his very specific musical taste. 

By the turn of the century, XDB hosted a series of nights at Goettingen's Eletroosho, where he invited Dial’s own Lawrence and Carsten Jost in 2002- the beginning of a still ongoing friendship.  He had established himself as a sought after and internationally active DJ and started his fist endeavors into music production as well. Later on XDB founded his own Label Metrolux and released on iconic labels like Sistrum and Wave to be followed by countless remixes for legends like Aaron Carl, Norm Talley and Patrice Scott.

An extraordinary stream of gravity connects both, his productions and DJ sets. Once breaking through a seemingly transparent surface, one get’s lost in the beauty and depth of forms and figures. There’s barely DJs and producers who keep searching for this hidden formula in such a microscopically detailed way to pass a lifetime in House Music and Techno on to the world. XDB's Inspiron embraces this unique approach, filters and develops inspirations in an entirely delicate way, and magically emphasizes the desires of the most dedicated listeners and dancers.

Unconscious by Human Space Machine is a great exercise in the subtle art of tension and release.  The track is very deliberate at slowly building up various sonic elements and letting the synth lines open and blossom.  Did I mention slowly? The track does stay true to its name and provides one with the feeling of slowly coming back to life from some sort of metaphoric slumber; starting muted and muffled and then gently "awaking" the senses one by one.  Did I mention slowly?

"Unconscious" by Human Space Machine is a part of the new "The Meaning of Time - Part II" compilation that is coming out on September 25th via On Board Music.

PREMIERE: Human Space Machine - Unconscious [On Board Music]

San Francisco-based Manjumasi welcomes back Vridian, a rising star from the Indian underground electronic music scene, for his sophomore release on the label, 'Strange Statistics' EP.
The release features two originals and two remixes by Gacha Bakradze and Tim Engelhardt. Gacha Bakradze, a mainstay from the vibrant Georgian underground music scene and our usual suspect here at Delayed, gives a nice twist to the title track and brings back all the feels with early '00 breakbeat nostalgia. 
Gacha's remix of 'Strange Statistics' brilliantly showcases a blend of classic UK breakbeat groove and melodic sensibility that will, for sure, create those special moments on the dance floor.
'Strange Statistics' EP is coming out on November 30th via Manjumasi.
