Esoteric Festival 2023 - Chill Island Sunday

LABEK & CHROBÁK are on their way to DAAD 2023 with this "Way of the Wanderer"-titled DJ set. Balázs Szallabek and Adrián Chrobák have produced and performed together since their high school years in 2016. Having played in various bands and formations, the duo has had the chance to experiment with multiple genres both together and on an individual level. These years of trial and error have set a path for their refined project Labek & Chrobak. Labek & Chrobak’s sound combines elements of downtempo, electronica, folktronica and deep house. As both members are guitar players originally, it was an obvious choice for them to incorporate the instrument in multiple ways into their sound. Their love for deep bass riffs, combined with drums of dance music and tribal percussive elements have become the signature sound of the duo. Balázs and Adrian are also performing regularly across Europe in the live band of Hungarian Female Artist of the Year, Дeva. Her hit debut album ‘Csillag’ features two songs with the duo’s co-writing and co-production, one of which has been the top track on her LP, ‘Szélben szőtt’.

Sofa Beats Series continues w/ Portugal duo ZEN RACOON by the artists also known as Zen Baboon.

Zen Racoon are Daniel Rosado and Henrique Palhavã. Both were born in the 70`s in Portugal and since an early age kept a close connection with the musical world, focusing on great sound quality and original construction. Daniel is a sound engineer that worked in a studio in Lisbon and started producing electronic music in the late 90′s. Henrique, a zoologist, lives and works in his own farm and started as an ambient DJ, ( ̈DJ Henriq ̈) and producer in 2001. They got together in 2003 and decided to melt their musical preferences and create Zen Racoon.

some of you will be surprised to know that i play not only downtempo music :) I hope is a good surprise. This mix was at Burning Man 2016 at Disorient camp. This burn was great for me, and i was happy to spend 2 weeks in the desert and play this set on Friday 5 am. For my personal taste, techno music was not well represented at Burning Man, and i was glad to play a bit harder, more groovy and bassy techno rave set. I would add some music tags to explain what is inside “minimal / rave / psychedelic / pumpy”.

You can consider this as my Techno music demo. As you know, i am totally and fully in love in psychedelic chillout / ambient music, and this will stay the main focus of my project and this soundcloud page.

Below there is some more interesting information about this mix and my musical background.

Gagarin Musical Background:
I have been listening to all kind of different music, in the end 90s i discovered clubbing and had very interesting experience on dance floor (techno / jungle / dnb). Since that time i regularly attended clubs, raves, free parties, squats, warehouses all over the world. I love to dance to electronic music.

in the 2008-2010 i discovered psy chillout music on the internet and few years later i had my first psychedelic festival experience and discovered trance. With time i started to understand and feel better psychedelic trance music. Still, I have to say that there is only a VERY small fraction of the psytrance music that i enjoy. So even i attend main floor, i rarely stay there long :) And i would rarely go to a party with no chillout stage.

As for Techno music, i also have troubles in finding the one i really like, and i rarely go out to listen to other artist and DJ’s playing.

As all my previous "psybient / psychill" mixes published here, this is a live mix, recorded from 1st take and there is no editing except for a “Gagarin Project” voice sample that i added to protect this mix from being played by other DJs. Believe me strange things happen in this world.

Ever since I began listening to electronic music, one genre has stood out and carried me into a deeper appreciation for the unknowns in life. I have been wanting to make another PsyDub mix for awhile, but was waiting for the right time and inspiration.

PsyDub Mix (2020)

After being introduced into the psychedelic music scene and first hand experiencing the magical, emotion-invoking culture that also follows, Dale Larsen was inspired to begin his journey into creating something that invokes that same feeling of mystery, happiness and unstoppable inspiration that comes from seeing so much work go into beautiful productions that brings people together. From this mission, the Diametric project was created. 

Beginning his journey in 2019, he set out to find just how he could create the sound that personified the feelings of that inspirational moment that led him to follow this path. After experimenting, learning and growing over a year long period, he found what felt like was his way of expressing the soul of how music can create such an emotive, uplifting and entrancing atmosphere. 

Using downtempo and psychedelic chillout music with mystical yet uplifting melodies, deep and morphing atmospheres, entrancing drums and percussions, let Diametric guide you on an introspective and ethereal journey to deeper sonic realms.
