The Makeover of Ten Sharp “You” by The Equalizers!

Aiming high in topping the charts, the Equalizers invite the classic pop band Ten Sharp to bring new life to one of the biggest radio hits of the 90s!

“Wow guys… let’s f#$ing do it!”
This was the instant reaction of the famous Dutch pop band, Ten Sharp, when they got a glimpse of the attempt by the “EQUALIZERS” to revisit one of the Greatest Songs of the 90’s.
It takes a lot of guts to remake a beloved pop classic, but it takes even more talent to do it well. The “EQUALIZERS” know how to bring the beats and get the job done right and managed to inspire the members of Ten Sharp to re-record the vocals for the needs of this unique collaboration. The result is a groovy Nu-Disco jam with vibrant piano and rich beats that makes you want to move, while still preserving the essential vibe of the original!

The feedback from Ten Sharp was sublime but demanding at the same time, setting high levels of musical standards which were harmonically combined with the inspiration and fresh sound of the “EQUALIZERS”, creating a catchy remake which aims to dominate the radio stations and DJ decks throughout Europe!

Following the evolution of Deep House and Nu Disco scene, the “Equalizers” have mastered these musical ingredients, drawing inspiration from a variety of techniques and traditions, establishing their own distinctive sound. The same philosophy was maintained in the remake of “You”, which comes back strong in 2014 and promises to stand the test of time…

The official worldwide (excluding Italy) release date is on April 29th 2014 by The Sound of Everything Records.

Early in 2012, the lads from Flight Facilities told me about a great concept for their Triple J Mix Up residency that was happening later in the year, and had a few tracks that they wanted edited. 
The concept for the mixes being a history lesson, not only musically but including global events that occurred at the time the music was released. 

They asked me if I wanted to work on one for them, and I couldn't go past choosing Lou Reed's 'Walk On The Wild Side'.

The mixes were aired on Triple J (Australia) throughout October 2012 and since no one has ever done anything like this before, 
and due to the incredible track lists each mix has, they've proven to be extremely popular. 

This edit was included in the first installment, which also contains edits by Tim Fuchs, Drop Out Orchestra, The Revenge, Skinny Joey, 
In Flagranti, Villa and of course, Flight Facilities.

Haunted by the ternary rhythms of the band from Mauritius, Babani Soundsystem, Kraut adds his unique electronic touch to turn this track into a dancefloor masterpiece. KR∆UT is the moniker of Amsterdam’s household name Daniel Zuur. With this alter ego he’s bound to bring his audience a flux of world music influenced electronica, different tempo’s and lots of percussion. Daniel has developed an exceptional rhythm and sound that no label will do justice. 

Babani Soundsystem defends a sound that blends Indian Ocean’s traditional rhythms and new electronic influences. The track title translated from Mauritian Creole, “Spooky stories”, evokes the island’s urban legends about night creatures in children tales. It also metaphorically describes night gatherings where spirits are awoken by the sound of traditional percussions. The latter are omnipresent, driven by a bewitching bassline and complemented by obscure synths. This pack includes remixes from Alma Negra featuring Celine Huber and Sunken Cages.

At the center, we can see a symbol of Pre-Columbian human creation connected to the 'Latin heart'. For Amazonian natives, the jaguar is everything: The power, the energy of nature, the god of fertilization, and the ruler of the two worlds; Night & Day. The planets around are symbols of their observations of the movement of the earth, while the sacred animals represent some of the astrological signs in Tribal cultures.
