Music is not divine, it comes from the depths of the Earth, Jean Rollin knew it.
These magnetic tapes were hidden in the country in the polluted ground at the back of an old gas station. The expertise revealed that not only hydrocarbons were buried deeply in the tanks but maybe also the key to a terrible secret.
Rumours in the village spread fast and the link between the security perimeters set by the local police and all those mysterious disappearances of the past century will soon be made.
Is there a link between this box of pink and red tapes and those sordid events?
We have decided to circulate them so you can make up your own mind.
We have also converted them to digital and made them available as free download. Bear in mind that only a hundred copies are available, which is few, but it might be better that way.

La musique n’est pas divine, elle vient des tréfonds de la terre, Jean Rollin le savait.
Ces bandes magnétiques étaient cachées dans l’arrière-cour d’une ancienne station essence à la campagne. Un sol pollué dont l’expertise a révélé qu’il n’y avait pas seulement présence d’hydrocarbures dans de profondes cuves, mais peut-être aussi la clé d’un terrible secret.
La rumeur villageoise va bon train et aura bientôt fait le recoupement entre l’instauration d’un périmètre de sécurité par la gendarmerie et toutes ces disparitions mystérieuses survenues au siècle dernier.
Cette caisse de cassettes rouges et roses a-t-elle un lien avec ces évènements sordides? Nous avons décidé de les diffuser afin que vous vous en fassiez votre propre idée.
Nous les avons par ailleurs numérisées et mises à disposition en téléchargement libre, mais dites-vous bien qu’une centaine de ces documents sont disponibles, c’est peu, cela vaut peut-être mieux.

This is the world premiere of the new work for double-bell horn, developed during the Virtual Brass Academy with Christine Chapman and Ensemble MusikFabrik, July 2020. This performance took place on July 30th, 2020 - in Cologne.
I am indebted to Ensemble MusikFabrik and the fantastic work they did with us in introducing us to the worlds of double-bell instruments, and to the ever-expanding repertoire of new music for these instruments they are bringing to the world.

The work explores a sense of dual forces that act and react upon each other, and how the relative mediator (the performer) indeed interacts with the score, the instrument and it's two bells, and finally how the theatre of the piece - both through actions and the position of the instrument - is transmitted to the audience. In the four sections of the piece that each explore a different facet of the manipulation of the horn - first through the use of a contra-bassoon reed to produce aggressive yet fulfilling multiphonics; then in the second and third exploring the two bells and their range of possibilities. The final section condenses the instrument down to only it's single-bell form and the mute and interacts briefly with it to express a settling within the performance. Gasping, grunting, growling and grandeur are all some of the ideas explored in this short miniature.

Jarret and Nick are joined by Kurabara to welcome 2021 by celebrating their favorite games of 2020.  Nick jokes about spending all his time watching his kids and Kurabara talks about his saga of trying to return his now extra pc-copy of Cyberpunk, while Jarret talks about the recent mashthosebuttons.com site redesign.

Nick kicks things off by talking about his time playing the fastest selling PC game of all time, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands.  He is excited for the story.  Kurabara has played as well and shares his thoughts.

Kurabara then runs down his list with Jarret of his games of 2020, starting with Animal Crossing.  Jarret argues that its wasn't a great game because it benefited from the pandemic, but Nick counters by claiming that is exactly why it deserves to be game of the year.   Kurabara also brings up Fall Guys and Among Us as games that got attention this year.  Kura also mentions the Last of Us 2, which Jarret claims deserved its Game Awards Accolades.  He also mentions Doom Eternal which Jarret compares to the 2016 Doom.  Kura liked Star Wars Squadrons while Jarret did not.  They did both agree that Final Fantasy VII Remake was exceptional, and Jarret in particular liked the ending.  Kura said Hades was a great game, and Jarret said it was top 5 but not game of the year material.  Kura also mentioned Cyberpunk 2077 despite its well known issues.

Jarret loved Ori and the Will of the Wisps, which had a final boss fight with no floor that impressed Jarret.  They discussed Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and how it was more of the same, and that isn't always a bad thing.  Jarret then considered GTFO as it was released in early access at the very end of December 2019.

Jarret ended by talking about some games that were disappointments, including Watchdogs: Legion and Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

MTBS #34: Favorite Games of 2020

These songs were written in 2017 (the cover is a rare picture of drunk me at the time), which is when I started to realize I was very likely not a special snowflake and I had to stop complaining about things not always going the way I want, yet that's exactly what I kept doing - to whine about things not going the way I wanted - but, in a brand new indie pop fashion rather than long text messages. (How exciting.)

The production process was very long and boring as I was always changing bits and lryics. After completing the recording in 2019, it got to the point I was fed up with them and put them aside, focusing on other musical projects with my friends (which you can find here on the Collettivo page as well).

I do still believe the songs are quite dumb, however: lately my friend Loup said he wanted to listen to them and gave me a very long and deatiled feedback to convince me there's no reason why these songs should not be available online after all, at least some of them (three out of five, the other two are just too silly), despite their limitations. He's right I guess, so here I am uploading this. I also owe it to all the people I've involved in this and bothered with my demos for years - sorry guys, I'm sure you'll forgive me now that you are mentioned in the "thanks to" section below!
