The Laidbackz is an animated music group with it’s own characters,world and music. 

The Laidbackz are Mr.Woox (dj, beatmaker) and The Roa (beatmaker, animator and illustrator).

When The Laidbackz were founded in 2016, our music was a collection of our old beats that we both individually worked on, but as time went by we started making music as a duo,working together on many tracks which later on became our first EP - Grayscale, which was released on NINETOFIVE Records in 2016. Later on, we released a couple of single tracks for respectable indie hip hop labels such as HIP DOZER, Tour De Manège, Kwaleeti and our second EP - "The Laidback Avenue" for S!X Music in 2018, followed by "The Rendesvouz Tape" in 2019.

During the time we were working on our second EP, we started to develop our world and characters with their own personalities and background stories. And so, the idea for our first official video was born.  Official video for "Late Night Cruisin’" track was animated, edited and done solely by The Roa.

In the future, our goal is to make a detective-noir animated mini-series for the web, where our music will follow our characters as an atmospheric part of the animated world they are part of.

We are currently working on scripts and pilot episode, and even though we are a two man team (for now, new members are coming in the production)!
We are working hard so that we can produce a short first season of 4 episodes with running time of 2-3 minutes for our dear fans & followers and are hoping you’re going to love it as much as we do.

Meanwhile, as we are working on the pilot episode, we will be posting new music and art for the time being.

Delilah to Release Sarah + 1, a Tribute To Sarah Vaughan on Groove United Records in 1st Quarter 2015

Covering Vaughan’s Jazz Standards - Whatever Lola Wants, September In The Rain and Just Friends 

North York, ON, CA …Delilah’s new record “Sarah + 1: A Tribute to Sarah Vaughan” due out in First Quarter, 2015 on Groove United Records will leave listeners demanding more! Delilah’s vocal range, timelessness and radiance have only continued to flourish since her last release in 2013 of “Sweeter Life”.  Her single “Love Life” off the Sweeter Life EP entered the Groove Jazz and Indie Charts in the US & UK in the top 50.  The EP was produced and arranged by Academy Award Winner Joe Renzetti (The Buddy Holly Story, etc.) and mixed by Bobby Brooks (Stevie Wonder, Liza Manelli, Michael Jackson, etc.).

As Delilah’s voice continues to mature so has her love of Sarah Vaughan.  While Vaughan was best known as an extraordinary Jazz singer, earlier in her career in the 40’s she performed American Standards while touring the country with the Earl Hines’ big band.  Like Vaughan the synergy of Delilah’s style moving from Jazz to American Standards – and for Vaughan, from American Standards to Jazz are no surprise as both their voices can carry both genres with ultimate crystalline clarity.  

The 4 track EP “Sarah + 1, A Tribute To Sarah Vaughan” features Delilah’s favorite Vaughan covers of  “Whatever Lola Wants”, “September in the Rain” and “Just Friends”.  The “+1” track is “Smile” the famous song written by Charlie Chaplin as an instrumental in 1936 for his movie Modern Times. Chaplin composed the music, while John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons added the lyrics and title in 1954.  The lyrics are based on lines and the theme from the film that everything will be ok,  as long as they smile.  “Smile” is a very apropos song for Delilah who always promotes a positive attitude in her music and her daily life.  The song has been performed by dozens of greats including Nat King Cole, Diana Ross and a duet with Tony Bennett and Barbra Streisand.

Delilah stays engaged with fans from all over the world on social media by sharing her artwork, photos, songs, and radiant positivity.  On ReverbNation, Delilah has consistently ranked #1 for her genre locally several months running, in the top 25 nationally and #153 globally.  Out of over 2,000,000 registered artists she ranks in the top 10,000 across all genres globally. Born in Budapest, Hungary, Delilah inherited her gift of music from her parents, who immersed her in performing from an early age. By the age of 10, she was singing and dancing with her family in a 20-member touring ensemble with one of Hungary's noted Roma performers, Bongo Margit, throughout Europe. By the time she was 16, she and her older brother Paul Lakatos, a guitar virtuoso, were performing with violinist Sonny Walker, another Roma legend, who jammed regularly with her father and family at impromptu gatherings in her home.   

Unfortunately, the joy of music was overshadowed by politics and in order to escape racial tension in Hungary, Delilah's family moved to Toronto, Canada in 1998. Never one to be without a song, this beautiful singer had earned a reputation as a professional songstress in the Toronto area by the age of 19. She has continued to pursue her dream of sharing her music with a worldwide audience ever since.

They have been coined electro swing, rave jazz, swing tech and then some. As the story goes, the trio sparked into existence during a live session at the legendary Bar 25 in Berlin. When the sound of Tel Aviv hip-hop met the Berlin swing spirit, the alchemy was real. All three shared a similar feeling for the old-time jazz sound and that passion was the foundation of their identity, leading to their first album "Death by Swing" in 2011. As they started touring, the project quickly ascended to international festivals with the explosion of the electro-swing scene. They soon got the attention of record companies such as Wagram and Tower records which featured them on renown compilations. 3 Albums and countless shows later, the three Berlin-based artists are still independently working on their collage of jazz, blues, swing, catchy hooks and heavy electronic beats.

Madame Electrifie has amassed some 20 years on the decks, playing some of the UK’s leading venues and parties. She has supported some of the biggest names in electronic music over the years across all spectrums of the music world including The Stanton Warriors, Jon Carter, Elite Force, A Skillz, Annie Nightingale, Rob Da Bank, Krafty Kuts, the Freestylers and a whole host of bands. Fusing the best vintage beats with the best of the modern age; Madame Electrifie’s eclectic sound means she can turn herself to a daytime disco or a late night bassy rave with ease.
