The creator of the Middle Way Records label, Italian artist Jovan Vehn, makes his debut with his personal EP ‘Wisdom In The Path’. Jovan Vehn is a DJ/producer on the Italian techno scene. His music comes from a deeply personal place, never chasing hype. This EP was created to mark his evolution and gives us an insight into his inner journey. This new EP marks his first appearance on this label, presenting a collection of his latest projects. Each track represents different moments from his recent period.

WISDOM IN THE PATH EP

Out of Place Records kicks off in 2021 with their 13th release. For this occasion, the label came up with a set of diverse techno tracks ready for anyone’s bag. Seven track Various Artists compilation displays a sophisticated variety of young artists and demonstrates talents and skills of rising techno producers at their broadest Various Artists compilation yet.

While the first Primal Instinct release saw references to artist urges and behaviours on social media, this next instalment explores a modern recontextualisation of humanity’s hierarchy of needs in yet another high-concept EP.

First up, ‘Internet Soulmate’ boasts a crunchy bassline as its drum work chugs along the track playfully. The groove twists and turns before the hypnotic and tribal ‘Supermarket Hunting’ continues with sounds of nature, loopy rhythm and syncopated bleeps.

Following the widely praised Funk Assault (Chlär & Alarico) ‘Minimum One Post A Week’ EP, which kicked off the Primal Instinct label last summer and won the support of the likes of Rodhad, Tasha, and Luke Slater, as well as routine plays from Sarah Story on BBC Radio 1, Chlär now returns to his imprint with solo venture ‘Modern Survival’. In recent times, it appears that the internet has fueled greater division, leading to increased polarization. This trend has pushed individuals toward virtue signaling, often expressing selective outrage. What is selective outrage? Selective outrage is the tendency of individuals or groups expressing outrage or moral indignation selectively based on personal biases. People may choose to speak out against certain offenses while ignoring or downplaying others that may be equally or even more significant. Selective outrage can manifest in social issues and personal relationships with someone condemning a person for a particular action while excusing similar behavior from a friend. One could argue that selective outrage undermines the credibility of moral or ethical judgments, suggesting that the outrage is motivated more by self-interest and tribalism rather than genuine concern for justice or morality.

Xiorro's latest release, "Selective Outrage," sets the storm of airwaves for Whirlwind Trax’s 2024 release calendar. A release containing 2 tracks that could seamlessly slide into a set to twirl up a dance floor. The titled track, "Selective Outrage," kicks off the release with an explosive blend of drums, thunderous 808 bass, and soul-stirring vocals. Xiorro masterfully crafts an atmosphere of intrigue and intensity, inviting listeners to delve into the complexities of modern society's selective moral compass.

Following suit, "Keep That Same Energy" keeps the momentum soaring with its relentless bass lines and infectious drive.
