Monnom Black presents Umwelt's new studio album “Dead Eyes Society”, a stunning piece of work and the culmination of 30 years of artistic refinement. Umwelt is a truly rare underground electronic artist in the world of Techno and is without doubt one of the most important and prolific French electronic producers of a generation. A techno activist since the 90’s boasting over 50 releases to date. Throughout his career he has crafted a pure analog, unmistakable, signature sound, mixing dark, cinematic melancholy with the electro-techno grit he is so renowned for.

The sound of the album is influenced by late 90’s and early 00’s techno contrasted with an avant-garde approach to recording and sound design. Throughout the album Umwelt lays down beautiful grooves and his space techno melodies in uncompromising fashion, blended with classic synthwork and run through his famous analog outboard chains. With “Dead Eyes Society” Umwelt has crafted his most powerful techno album to date and solidified himself as an exceptional artist
and titanic figure of modern electronic music.

Picture by acclaimed photographer Cam Linh, her work has been featured across multiple Parisian exhibitions and has worked closely with Umwelt over the past years.

i’ve been selecting music for this moment for the past few weeks but i’m still unsure of what to come up with… opening the night is like starting on a blank canva. i open with a poem of Dylan Thomas, as i did the first time i played the Mayan Warrior in 2019, then these few dub techno tracks i’ve been obsessed with lately… more and more people are coming, i love how we’re dancing in this such unique « burning man way » out there on the playa. i’ll take a deep breath for a couple track and ready to lift-off !! a dust storm arrives… what a time to be alive!!

Askkin's latest release, 'NECH027' marks his debut on Nastia's NECHTO. A former resident of techno nights at Faktice in Nantes, Askkin has found his footing in the Brussels techno scene. His work at Faktice, now a label co-founded with producer Exal, has garnered attention across the European scene. With collaborations alongside artists like Hadone and releases on labels such as TWND and Maison Close, Askkin continues to develop a distinctive sound. For Askkin, producing music serves as an expressive outlet, capturing a range of emotions and reflections. 'NECH027' conveys both introspective and uplifting moments, especially the track "Social Medication" exemplifying his approach to blending light and darkness while maintaining a strong groove and energy. The EP features five tracks: "Keep Your Chin Up", "Not All Silences Sound The Same", "Social Medication", "Tick", and "Yes". The bond between Sprechen & the Idaho based duo Causeway (Allison Rae & Marshall Watson) has been steadily building over recent time with various message & props to each other as well Allie providing outstanding vocals on The Thief Of Time release last year.

With previous releases on Italians Do It Better (one of our fave labels!) they are now front & centre on Sprechen with their latest single 'Dancing With Shadows', a pulsating piece of hefty synth style action which precedes their forthcoming long player.

The single is a sonic exploration of the duo's expansive musical palate which cites influences from contemporaries such as The Cure & New Order (and even John Hughes movies!) but with a presence that is 100% unique to Causeway. Stripped back instrumentation and stacked synths create a dreamlike soundscape where Allison's vocal becomes the guiding light and provider of additional emotion on this neon soaked journey.

Dancing With Shadows comes across like a main track from the sequel to Drive that we never got (though we live in hope!), cinematic, stunning and a real plentiful taster of what is to come on their album next year.

Remixes take the track into other dysfunctional disco realms with Marshall himself providing a pumped up club mix that cranks everything from the OG up to 11 on the 'chunk-o-meter'. Whilst Sprechen's very own Chris Massey goes in for the acid kill with his 303 tweaking A Love From Outer Space style mid set stomper. Speaking of A Love From Outer Space, Sean Johnston himself gives a deep, moody & more psychedelic affair to his rework that takes things subterranean. Whilst Kiaki takes things deeper into stripped back chug territory which is equal parts hypnotic & hooky with a stomping backdrop...big!

Carlos Aguilar, also known as Concrete Husband, is back for the second time on White Owl. He is a fascinating musician with a strong background in classical music who has now made techno his home. In addition to being a producer, he is a popular DJ who frequently performs at popular NYC venues, and this year, he also went on tour in Europe.

'Piel' is an album journey that reflects the artist's twin sides; his ambient and techno works have oddly comparable themes. Concrete Husband displays his two styles side by side in this lengthy project. Two amazing remixes by techno titans TWR72 and 1morning top off a fiery flute introduction that plunges into a flood of techno fury. Overall, Concrete Husband skilfully defies genre to elevate us from introverted lows to extroverted highs.

White Owl Records are a vinyl and digital label based in Brooklyn, USA who have a focus on live and machine-driven techno from its wonderful underground scene.

Returning for his second release on White Owl is Carlos Aguilar aka Concrete Husband, an exciting artist who has a high pedigree from the world of classical music, has now found his home in techno. 
Not only a producer, he is also an in demand DJ, playing regularly around NYC hotspots, and has also toured Europe this year.

‘Piel’ is an album journey that expresses the artist’s dual sides; the themes of his ambient works and his techno prove strangely similar. 
In this long-form project, Concrete Husband presents his two styles next to each other. 
A searing flute opening delves into a torrent of techno madness, topped with two stellar remixes from techno icons TWR72 and 1morning. 
In all, Concrete Husband takes us from introverted depths to extroverted heights by deftly defying genre.

TWR72 is a revered Dutch maestro who not only runs the Float Records imprint, but has also appeared on Pfirter’s MindTrip, Setaoc Mass’ SK_eleven, Mark Broom’s Beard Man, and Tiga’s Turbo Recordings, amongst many others.

1morning is a Los Angeles-based producer who also brings a solid pedigree and has featured on Deetron’s Character label as well as Céllí’s Mála Ádh, Fixed Rhythms, and Gypnōticå.

The opening track, “Breath on Me,” is a throbbing and shuffling ride, soaked in tribal atmosphere and modular shimmers over a raw groove.

“Arched Back” has a stuttering beat at its core from delayed kick patterns that play under swooning tones and dramatic stripped down sections.

“Heating Up” has an abstract rhythm of rolling drums and tasteful highlights in this interesting analogue cut.

“New Boy” is an almost lo-fi techno take, using a bouncing bassline to fuel this apparent beatless, and jiving trip.

“Ven Aqui” returns to a more driving approach. 
A jackin’ and thundering kick provides the focus, while the alarm-like hook creates an arresting tension in an overall sonic hurricane.

“Your Pulse” takes a step into harder territory with a wall of bass and slicing, chirping accents, but the freaky vibe is really emblazoned from the dark, whispering vocal.

“New Boy (TWR72 Remix)” throws down a punchy reworking aimed at shaking bones on dance floors, where slick detuned hats trade blows with extra effects and sound design details.

The final track is the “Your Pulse (1morning Remix)” that has a regimented 4/4 stance, but totally groove-laden beat with infectious energy from claps and bass jabs.

TELUR is a newly established techno label based in Munich, founded by Alicea and Schott. Alicea is a versatile producer and DJ from Munich. In December 2024, she will make her debut as a producer with her self-founded label, Telur. Schott is a DJ, producer, and live act from Munich, known for his distinctive sound that embodies proper techno with hypnotic and slightly dark influences. His deep passion for music led him to start both DJing and producing almost simultaneously, allowing him to develop a cohesive and powerful musical identity.
