If you don't know Keith yet: Amsterdam based Keith Carnal has in recent years become seen as somewhat of a tastemaker in today’s world of techno. It might not then come as a big surprise to you that he has also become a favoured producer among many who are seen as “techno mainstay”, gaining support from numerous of his own musical inspirations and champions. Carnal, who grew up in a very musical home in the northern part of Holland, found techno at an early age when he began sourcing and selecting on his own. Techno was, and very much is, the first music that made a deep impression on Keith. This feeling only went on to become more cemented after a few years of composing on his own. It simply became clearer and clearer that Carnal is exactly where he belongs.

MZR, born in 1988 and based in Berlin,MZR is a techno DJ and producer who began his career in 2008 under various secretive aliases. 
He later settled on using MZR as his main stage name. Alongside his partner, KETCH, he established the label SYXT, which quickly became known as a vital part of the Berlin techno scene. 
MZR is known for his dynamic and energetic 4 Deck DJ sets, characterized by fast, groovy, and loop-based techno.

JakoJako (@jakojako_live) always wanted to make music and her self-confessed hyperactivity ultimately led to her getting the most joy out of playing about with machines and patching up synths. These days the Berghain resident is a celebrated live act and DJ who draws on the considerable knowledge she picked up working at Berlin's legendary synth shop SchneidersLaden, but she has also worked on several high-profile motion sensor dance projects at places like The Royal Albert Hall. Her smart sound designs and unique rhythms have landed on Leisure System, Tresor and Figure and she has a new EP coming on Mute this June.

Her mix for us this week features a sneak preview of one of the tracks from that EP as well as mixing up music from Alaric, Siege, Altinbas and many more. It's full of high-speed sounds couched loosely in techno but with moods and textures borrowed from industrial, minimal and even trance as things reach an emotional peak late on. Though she broke through as a live act, this set shows JakoJako can now speak just as freely through the decks.

The DifferentSound Podcast #307 welcomes Hertz Collision! Hertz Collision was a duo formed by Francesco Profeti and Pietro Franchini. They began to collaborate in 2009 releasing music from 2014 on labels like Tono Limited, Serial Number 849, Concrete Music, Dynamic Refection. In 2016, they got the chance to release on Invite's Choice Records next to Wrong Assessment and Savas Pascalidis. During last months they released on Persistence, Uncage records, in a digital V/A for Aine. In October the duo played at Radion for the Dynamic Refection showcase during the ADE. They started 2017 releasing a second digital ep. on Dynamic Refection with a massive remix from Stranger, and with their first complete Ep. on the well-known underground label called Frozen Border. On the 7 of October, the duo started a collaboration with one of the most historical clubs in Florence, Tenax, for 2 events on during the same month with Marco Faraone and Marcel Fengler and the other one with Ben Klock. After that, they signed a release on the new label from Kwartz (Order&Devotion) with an outstanding remix from him. The 21 of March were invited by Mario Berger to play in the legendary club Tresor and by Synoid’s crew at Griessmuehle on the 13 of April. The last release was on Ear to Ground (July 2018). 2019 was a year of reflection for the duo, and right now Francesco is working as a solo with Hertz Collision Project. Last ep was released on Be as One together with Marco Faraone remixed by Alexander Kowalski and last 2 v/a were on Illegal Alien Records with a lot of artists like Electric Indigo, Temudo, Giorgio Gigli and Stanislav Tolkachev and on Be as one with Linkan ray, Vil, Amber, Marco Bruno and Kowalski. During the 2020 Fracesco received support from artist like Truncate, Liebing and many more for his production and released on 2 V/A from Suburban Avenue and In silent Series by Positive Centre. He also was selected like runner up in the contest of Black on Black from mister RadioSlave. Latest releases were on the mighty Truncate Records, two solo ep with remixes from truncate and the advent and one split ep with Gene Richards Jr.

Based in Amsterdam and a resident of the Ypnotika collective, her creative practice spans electronic music, contemporary art, performance, and technology. Elisa’s activity branches across a wide spectrum of projects, all unified by one continuous thread: a deep commitment to electronic music. Her work often explores the boundaries of contemporary sound, blending it with other disciplines to create immersive, multidimensional experiences. Her sound design and tech-driven compositions have been featured at renowned venues and festivals worldwide, including Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Taiwan National Theater, Ballet National de Marseille, Kinetica Museum (London), Elbphilharmonie (Hamburg), ZKM (Karlsruhe), and Fusion Festival, among others. Elisa Batti has released her music on various electronic and techno labels such as Semantica,Qilla Records, Balans Records, NYXII, Diffuse Reality, Observant, and others.  As a DJ, Elisa Batti delivers sets that range from hypnotic and deep techno to driving, high-energy soundscapes. Whether performing live or curating mixes, she guides listeners through enchanting sonic journeys, infusing every set with her distinct artistic identity and emotional depth. For Elisa, music is art, music is culture, and this is at the foundation of her love for techno.

Sounds From NoWhere is pleased to premiere a new DJ Varsovie' tracks remixed by Under Black Helmet on 'Intervision'.
Active since 2015, DJ Varsovie has always showed interest in playing with different electronic music genres and never sticking to one. 
Collaborating with artists such as I Hate Models or Blind Delon among other dark lords, DJ Varsovie shows us his first LP ‘September’ two months ago. 
All work and no play for DJ Varsovie as he releases a new LP, composed of 8 tracks and 4 remixes. 

Side A sets the mood straight away with 'Sombre Ibiza'. 
The song begins with a rather hard bassline, evolving into a melody punctuated by a background noise that echoes the intoxication on the dancefloor. 
The atmosphere grows thicker with the remix of Under Black Helmet, who offers a striking techno from the very first notes.

Berlin is a Techno Utopia. 

Straight from the dungeons of electronic music’s best parties, Voxnox Records keeps on delivering uncompromising heat for the dance floor - since almost six years now. And with its third Various Artist compilation dropping August 23rd, the rise of this independent label, collective and agency continue to grow in multiple directions. 

Berlin resident @lars-huismann teams up with @chriskoegler  on "Ripped Dreams“ meaning epic pad programming also teaming up with some most energising groove patterns in here. Meant to be played on a big system, this track feels ecstatic, yet liberating and most definitely rave oriented with its synths and small developing zenith. 

@alignment-3  definitely spells hotness on "Can You Hear Me“ - a beast of Kick/Synth harmony straight from and for sweating and eventually soaking rave. With it’s small but therefore stimulating vocal fragment it fusions shaking drum patterns with ever pushing melodies. 

Third in this row is @thambln's "Intoxication“ which is nothing less but an invitation letter straight from the warehouses of East-Berlin. Giving a marching groove some serious rave-pads, with essentially turning down into an epic break to drop most effectively just afterwards. Just fire. 

Up next is a collaboration between Barcelona-based @poligonism and  @lorenzoraganzini’s "Metal Works“ perfectly blending a forward pushing groove with detail works on the major scale, eventually burning the floor down with its ever-rising and not stoppable energy. 

The label’s A&R and powerhouse @septonly steps things up on „Suicide Generation“, bringing what he’s most known for: efficient power. You may realise his fractions and particular versatile style on every single element of this heatwave, linking powerful arrangement with his forward attitude. 

@opal-berlin opens up the bigger curtain of this release with "Acid March“. An energy rising tune, combining shuffled hats with synthesiser-influenced drives sure enough to transport serious escalation moods while playing it out. 

Newcomers "@blame-the-mono“ come from Youkounkoun and step through by flipping and chopping an old school acapella in its most effective way. On banging synth-lines and some forward pushing groove galore, probably kicking the most out of the speaker system. 

Last but not least is France’s new talent, producer & DJ - @quelza and his contribution "Olimpian Orbit“ rising dark pads, a continuous climax and unique drive-by bringing diverse and ever-evolving patterns, perfectly matching a hot night’s deserved finale on this compilation.
