These are recordings from the era I was promoting the Tribal events in London, around 1999-2000.

Heavy hypnotic tribal techno, played on 3 decks and FX.
All vinyl, all live, no sync button so you can hear the tension in every mix.

The recordings are extremely old, some of the tapes are crackly and partially chewed, but I’m in the process of recording them to clean up & upload what I can.

As a DJ, he has evolved from his beloved and traditional vinyl to the current digital format. Thanks to it, Jotón enriches his sessions by providing an added boost to his innate ability to connect it to the dance floor. In 2015, a milestone occurred in his career with the publication of his first album 'Casting Out Nines' that garnered excellent reviews by the public and specialized press. It was considered one of the best works in long format of that year and this placed Joton in the focus of the entire global techno scene. He launched this album in 10 countries on 3 different continents. In 2018 two new works will see the light, Antioquia on the German label ODD EVEN and Extreme Mesures on RAW RAW, again capturing the industry's attention. My next guest on Yax Invites is Chicago Loop.

Chicago Loop is a name that has now been firmly stamped throughout the modern world of techno, albeit within a fairly short space of time. The man behind this relatively new alias however, is certainly not a newcomer to the scene. Ant Wilson, or Ant to his friends, has been producing electronic music and traveling the globe playing at clubs, events and festivals since 1994 from Japan to North and South America, Israel, Russia, South Africa, Europe and everywhere else in between.

It was a career that started back in the heady days of early 90’s London at the illegal rave and warehouse parties that made up a huge part of the scene at that time. Ant very quickly moved onto producing music shortly after, and around the year 2000 he started running his own record label out of the infamous Kinetec studio and record shop in London’s Oxford Circus. Eventually, with almost two decades of travelling, DJ’ing and recording experience under his belt, Ant decided it was time for a change, and in 2013 the Chicago Loop alias was unleashed, which focused solely on creating more upfront and modern techno productions. Within just a few years of launching the project, Chicago Loop secured releases on major labels such as Phobiq, Respekt, Toolroom, Riot, Funk’N Deep, Renesanz and Techburst and his tracks received continued support from some of the scenes biggest players. His 2016 techno hit, “Use Me” on Techburst Records enjoyed over 200 days in the Beatport Hard Techno chart and sat at the No.1 spot for over 25 of those days.

In addition to the many successes with releases, Chicago Loop has been showcasing his sound around the world, playing at events in Asia, South America and across Europe. Some highlights have included the legendary “Techno Tuesday Amsterdam” and the sold out “Welcome To The Future Festival” events and in 2021 he secured a new residency at Friday Happiness in Tojeiro in Southern Portugal.

Today, Chicago Loop is constantly busy in the studio writing more high-profile releases, as well as his chart-topping sample packs on Industrial Strength and endeavours to continue his journey delivering more fresh, no-nonsense techno to dance floors around the world.

Cocorico! I got such amazing memories with this awesome club in Riccione Italy. Didn’t play there for 4 years, first it had to close down and then there was this virus. So I was uber happy to be back and it was a total blast, such a good vibe right into the beautiful sunrise. Such an incredible atmosphere in this place, I would say better than ever before, if that is even possible. So great to see so many happy people dancing in this pyramid again. Thanks to everyone for bringing this energy to the night. The set was 3h 20 min in the end. Temudo and Cravo are known for their intense and powerful techno sound that combines influences from classic and contemporary techno. As members of the Hayes Collective, they are part of a Portuguese collective of techno artists that also includes artists like VIL and Nørbak. The collective aims to promote techno culture in Portugal and abroad through events, releases, and collaborations. In addition to Hayes, both have released on Klockworks, while Temudo's music also bears the seal of Blueprint or Warm Up and Cravo released on SK11 or Be As One.

Kr!z joins for DifferentSound Podcast #211.

Kr!z has been at the forefront of techno for more than a decade. Influenced by the hypnotic and energetic sound helmed by veterans such as Jeff Mills, Steve Rachmad and James Ruskin, he gradually but steadily developed his own identity in the international techno scene. 

After making a name for himself as a skilled DJ with sharp focus and a quick mixing style in home country Belgium and the Netherlands, Kr!z launched Token Records in 2007. It has since been a leading outlet for heady, purist sounds. He rapidly established the label as a fixed value with a timeless and powerful sound and took it around the world with label nights on every continent. Token remains important in defining techno today - always straightforward, sometimes weird, often catchy – all under the helm of Kr!z as avid A&R.

After 12 years spent assiduously focused on curating the Token discography, showcasing artists he has nurtured and supported over this time, and incorporating the connoisseur’s knowledge and experience he has cultivated in his work as a DJ, 2019 saw the release of his long awaited debut EP on Token. ‘Mantra’ received high acclaim by both media and the scene's key DJ’s. This continued in 2020, when he released the track ‘Scorpion’s Tail’ on Voltage Imprint and ‘Malice’ & ‘Imperative Needs’ as part of a split EP with Pfirter on his MindTrip label. 2022 was his most prolific year to date with three full EPs seeing the light of day: ‘Neutrino EP’ on James Ruskin’s Blueprint Records, ‘The Tunnel’ on Setaoc Mass’ hotshot SK_eleven and ‘Atlantis’ on his own Token Records. In 2023 he released ‘Revelation’, his follow up on Blueprint.

As a DJ, Kr!z takes listeners on journey’s surpassing space and time. Led by deeply hypnotic grooves, syncopated rhythms and widely reverberating atmospheres, his desire to guide the dancefloor into unknown depths can be felt with every note. Intensities build up and collapse under his skillful hands, knowing what each knob twist will result in. Each set feels almost like a mathematical calculation, deciphering the code of collective ecstasy.

Andrew Shobeiri AKA @renewise flaunts an artistic flair rare for his years.

Possessing an uncanny ability to create a sound that fuses hip-shak-ing grooves with a raw but modern touch, Wise breeds a deep sense of knowledge and maturity beyond what you’d expect for an artist of his age. His ear for infectious rhythm derives from a love of classic 90’s era techno, always being drawn to the relentless energy felt in the faster tempos. These influences can be heard throughout his productions and selections as a DJ, winning him a growing fanbase of peers and music lovers alike.

2018 saw the UK-born DJ/producer leaving a strong impression. A dig- ital EP on Mark Broom’s Beardman imprint and his first official 12’ inch release on the highly respected Mote-Evolver, run by techno pioneer Luke Slater, gained huge reactions from the likes of Rødhad, Freddy K, Blawan and DVS1. The high level of support has continued into 2019, with white label tracks featuring in sets from Kr!z & Dustin Zahn, among others.

On the road Wise has made regular appearances at Jaded, London’s Sunday after-hours haven while his Berghain sets have undoubtedly grabbed the attention of the committed Berlin reveler. The remainder of 2019 keeps this young talent busy, with bookings spanning the UK, Europe and, South Africa with more releases set to drop across the next coming months.
