Just a month ago, Answer Code Request and Amotik washed Fuse over with a gripping 3 hours back-to-back. And among the countless ephemeral alliances that have animated our Room 01 in recent years, this pairing is hailed as one of the most harmonious and intuitive we’ve ever had.

With a constant, fluid rhythmic approach, Answer Code Request and Amotik combine the best of both worlds. Nastia joins for DifferentSound Podcast #229.

Nastia, the Ukrainian DJ whose real name is Anastasia Topolskaia started her career in 2005. In a short time, she became  a curator of KISS FM stage and a resident at the legendary Kazantip festival, she also hosted her weekly live radio show from  2006 to 2016 on the aforementioned radio station. In 2010, she was offered residency at Moscow’s cult Arma17 club.  Inspired by the club’s team and their project, Nastia began to organize her own parties in Ukraine. After gaining experience  and recognition, Nastia, together with the team of Closer, the famous club in Kyiv, created the Strichka festival in 2014, which  runs to this day. A year earlier she launched a vinyl label Propaganda Records, which quickly gained a strong presence in modern house  music. 

Nastia is a rare example of how great success can be achieved solely by DJing, ideas and hard work - so far she is the  most touring and popular DJ in the history of Ukraine. She performs at key venues around the world and takes an active social  and political position. In 2022, due to the war in Ukraine, she temporarily moved to Amsterdam and actively supported  Ukraine using all of her social instruments, and also opened her own fund to help Ukraine. Currently, she continues to actively  perform and represent Ukraine at various dance, media and official platforms.

Joel Mull's career spans over three decades. With a background studying classical music, singing in choirs and playing in bands, Joel found electronic music at a young age as a source of freedom. His frst experience came from DJ’ing in the chill-out areas of rave parties in his native Stockholm during the early 90’s. With his roots from Germany, Hamburg, he moved to the city in 1994, and worked as a resident DJ for 3 years at one of the biggest techno clubs in Germany, Unit Club. This was an important period for him and as a DJ; It learned him how to control the energy of the night on the dance foor, from warm up sets to 10h marathon sets. With releases on music labels worldwide along with Cari Lekebusch, Robert Leiner, Adam Beyer and Jesper Dahlbäck he counts to the frst wave of Swedish techno producer who became known around the world as the "Swedish techno sound". He has produced over 100 releases and under various names such as Icarus, Gotzkowsky and most recent under his alias Damm. He often refers to himself and his craft as a sound architect, and if you’ve ever experienced his club sets, you’ll understand why. Under his ambient and electronica alias Damm, Joel revives one of his earliest aliases and expands upon this discipline even further.

A true staple of the Dutch scene and beyond for the past fifteen years, Darko Esser alias Tripeo has constantly been at the forefront of what techno can bring to the table in terms of both innovation and raw power. Responsible for memorable platters on the likes of Clone Records, Curle, Cultivated Electronics, Rekids, Bassiani and his own imprint, Wolfskuil, amongst many others, Darko has always been ahead of the curve, not just in being an absolute technical beast or through his extensive knowledge of music - which reaches way out the niche realm of techno/electronics, but in beckoning techno onto uncharted routes just like the Detroit sound paved the way for a bolder, time-transcending approach. It’s with great honour that we welcome him in the series, this time under the Tripeo moniker, for two hours of absolute batshit 4x4 frenzy. A no-miss.
