Known primarily for his fast-moving, skilful style and dynamic selections on the decks, Sunil has carved out a unique place in the global scene, representing electronic music in a range of different ways over the years - as a DJ, producer, label owner, party organiser, radio host, writer, educator and nightlife advocate. Sunil's reputation as a "turntable wizard" is long established from his early days as a DJ in Dublin (when local competition was fierce and word of mouth meant everything). As a resident of Under Bron since 2012, she has gone on to become one of the most in-demand DJs, renowned for her legendary marathon sets, razor sharp mixing, and powerful, radiant approach to techno.

About the mix Philippa said: 

“I tried to keep a ’festival in nature’ - theme whilst recording this, less peak moments and more groovy, hypnotic and repetitive/trippy, more leaning to what I would play at a closing set.”

For BASEMENT 008, we've turned things over to Holden Federico.   A favorite of the NY underground, Federico holds a reputation both for his comprehensive knowledge of techno's most obscure corners and for his capacity to channel his sprawling collection into DJ sets of exceptional poise and vibrancy. Raised in Pennsylvania, an early fascination with software production led him from live music into an obsession with track building and the limitless possibilities of electronic music. In 2020, he launched @90stechno.redux, an online platform that catalogues some of the finest, and often nearly-unheard, examples of the genre's golden age. Drawing heavily on the Detroit-Berlin axis, Federico exemplifies the focus and discernment of a purist, engaging with techno both as a true art form and as a near-spiritual discipline.

Right on cue to support the release of his newest EP on SK_eleven, here comes Manchester via Berlin's own Setaoc Mass with a banger of a mix to break June in proper, pedal to the metal. Exponent of a sound both intrinsically rugged yet layered to mind-altering effect, the British producer has been dishing out unstoppable slices of hi-velocity techno laced with a signature stripped-back, psychedelic edge. This new RYC podcast doesn’t veer off from such a direction and we’re graced with a two-hour mind trip boasting both bass-driven warehouse impact and an elegantly-woven tapestry of abrasive grooves, leaning by turn towards atmospheric elation and on other occasions pushing in the direction of utter fibrous, steel-coated industrial pound. The result is a wilder than wild ride down a smouldering pit of acid-washed hard hitters. Brutal.
