It's More Fun to Compute

Nerd with a music obsession.  Poor keyboardist, good sound designer.  Working to improve at both before my hearing goes further downhill.

Current goal: Big sounds from small machines.  All tracks have been made on a Nintendo DS with the Korg DS-10 and DS-10+ cartridges.  No outboard effects or EQ have been used.

Despite the choice of synth, I do not make chiptunes.  I grew up listening to Kraftwerk, Jean_Michel Jarre, W. Carlos, King Crimson, early Tomita, Brian Eno and Robert Fripp.  My influences are a lot wider now, but the tunes do show my musical history.  I love Jungle/DnB, and although I'm not involved in that scene I respect the skills and commitment of those who are.

Many of the tracks here are sketches which are waiting for me to get back some creativity to finish properly.  If you'd like to hear my best tracks, please listen to:

Electrode - it's one of the first proper tracks I made and I'm fairly happy with it as a tribute to electro and scratching.

Hot Pursuit - theme tune to an imaginary cop show, done at about the same time as Electrode.  First proper Kaoss Pad melodic solo I recorded.  I think it's fun.

Deeper - contains the best groove I've made on the DS-10, and Matrixsynth thought it was "awesome".   :-)

Rockit - a bit of improv anchored by the Herbie Hancock tune themes.  Happy with the sounds I got.  Improv needs to be tighter.

Zürich Connection - something I was happy with at the time, but other people not so much.  Please leave comments saying what you don't like about it so that I can improve!
