Limited edition of 500 copies packaged in a heavy duty gatefold sleeve. 
On a long hot summer night in 2012 a meeting of minds happened in Liverpool, England. Damo Suzuki visited the city to play a show with MUGSTAR.
After a flurry of e-mails Damo requested MUGSTAR not to practice or figure out any music prior to the performance, as he believed it should “Start from Zero”.
Leaving the whole performance to be entirely improvised on the spot.
It proved to be quite a night: the shamanic presence of the legendary Damo Suzuki immersed in the full-on, intense, sound of MUGSTAR - one of the leading bands currently exploring fresh and uncharted areas - as they forge forward through the deep space of kraut/psych.
The music that emerged that evening moved through driving, head-spinning double wah-wah attacks, eerie ethereal passages and on to an extended motorik coda, all powered along by thunderous bass and drums.
Damo settled in immediately, a master of his own unique art. Surging along with MUGSTAR as “sound carriers”, absorbed in the energy and atmosphere through to the shows exhausting end. It’s a great pairing.

Re-issue of this monster rarity. Originally custom pressed in 1980, ‘Rosa de Sangue’ is the closing chapter of the amazing Recife psychedelic movement that flourished and centred around the work of Lula Côrtes, beginning in 1973 with the release of Satwa, and the creation of ‘abracadabra’, Lula’s loose art/music/design collective. “I want to close all of this with a golden key”… and a golden key it is.

Entering a small local studio with a head full of songs and his freshly road tested ‘mountains band’, Lula created an album simply overflowing with ideas. Along with his power trio backing, he was further assisted by many old friends dropping in, including, among many others: Alçeu Valença, Flaviola, Zé de Flute & Paulo Rafael.

The sound veers from crazed ethno folk-rock, to magical, gentle, jungle folk psych zones, to hard hitting, coke dusted fuzz rock, to insane mutant disco dance floor groove, to tweaked Americana, to acid vocal raga trance, and way beyond… … at some point while the album was being recorded & pressed Lula signed a major label contact
which would produce 1981’s far tamer ‘O Gosto Novo da Vida’ LP.

When his new label got wind of ‘Rosa de Sangue’s eminent release, they were displeased to say the least. As soon as the pressing was complete, the entire small edition was seized and destroyed, making this album by far Brazil’s rarest. So rare, in fact, that even among the most hardcore Brazilian collectors the original LP is often only rumoured to exist, often cited as ‘unreleased’… a few copies did however survive

Lula Côrtes - These Are Alternate Trails (Flying Saucer)

Henry Flynt is an experimental musician and conceptual anti-artist who does improvisations and musical experiments one fiddle, banjo, guitar, keyboards, etc. He had some involvement briefly with Fluxus, and in the late 60s put out an album with a band called Henry Flynt and the Insurrections, which was punk before punk. I recommend that people also check out his album-length piece "Purified by Fire".

in 2014 the Flaming Lips asked me to participate in their Beatles cover album "With aLittle Help from my Fwends". I covered the title track and sent them the file, they in turn dug into it and made a new weird mutant adding and subtracting parts. Here is my initial version in it's self recorded unmastered glory.

The latest long-player of devotional noir by Humboldt County romantic Brian Pyle aka Ensemble Economique was originally titled Music Saves Lives, in response to the misguided backlash directed at underground artists in the wake of the tragic Ghost Ship fire in Oakland. Since Pyle’s career threads through a decade and a half of Northern California’s independent experimental music community, the blow struck a uniquely deep and personal chord. As a way to process, he began recording at his coastal home studio in Manila, California, channeling inner states of mind, seeking something “more personal and intimate, the idea of love, and shining through.”

Radiate Through You delivers on its title, exuding a nuanced catharsis, alternately tempestuous and transcendent, forlorn but undefeated. Vaulted heavens of interwoven electronics ebb into hushed dirges of skeletal percussion and candlelit guitar. Roiling noise seethes, swells, and subsides as an ashen string arrangement rises in the mix, keening a somber, circular elegy, as if overtaken by memory on a long walk alone.

Two key guest appearances lend the album even more dynamism and drama: the first by Barcelona synthesist Alexander Molero on the questing, celestial opener, “Music Is Life,” the second by New Zealand psychic sisters Purple Pilgrims on the devastating finale, “Blue Hour.” Both showcase impressive shades of Pyle’s finesse as producer and muse, sparking his collaborators to new heights.

Whether taken as expressionist memorial, therapeutic song cycle, or something more ambiguous, Radiate Through You stands as a pensive, passionate statement by an enduring light of the West Coast canon, drawn from “a deep, special place of giant emotions, feelings.”

Bit-Tuner’s «Arabian Nights» is based on tapes,  eld recordings and sounds produced in Cairo. The glea- ming heat of Egypt was processed into a grinding 40-minute live set, contrasting the layered textures with Bit-Tuner’s signature staccato beats. Swirling sounds fall into place as the recording evolves. As blasts of wind carry away the dust, sights of a dense and vibrant metropolis are set free.

After his previous works «The Japan Syndrome», «The China Syndrome» and «Athina Tape», Bit-Tuner’s new recording «Arabian Nights» takes an edgy approach: He extracts grainy physicalness from his sounds and brews them in his high-energy arrangements. It is this directness that marks Bit-Tuner’s distinctive qualities as a live act. He manages to tell stories through waves of sonic pressure.

Since his departure from the seminal Black Metal band MAYHEM, Maniac has expanded his horizons considerably, moving firmly away from the Black Metal genre with which he is so closely associated, to concentrate on his own bands, one of them being the Blackened Doom project SKITLIV. With a line up that includes SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth on guitars and backing vocals, and with guest appearances from musical luminaries such as David Tibet (CURRENT 93), Gaahl (GOD SEED, WARDRUNA) and Atilla (SUNN 0))), MAYHEM), SKITLIV recently released the critically acclaimed debut album “Skandinavisk Misantropi” on Season of Mist.

Skitliv -Towards the Shores of Loss (Vulture Face Kain)

“In these last days/There’s not much to say/So you might as well sing.” This lyric pops up a few times over the course of The Godward Way, a 23-minute meditation that serves as the sole track on Daniel Higgs‘ session for the Latitudes series.
Higgs was long a mysterious and enigmatic force as part of minimal post-punk bands like Lungfish and the Pupils, but when he struck out under his own name, things got truly intense. Albums like 2010′s Say God were some strange mesh of insane street sermon and acid folk journey, with extended drones competing with Higgs’ near-violent spiritual rant. Godward Way is a slightly different shade of the same material. Phasing through long sections of seemingly improvised raga-esque passages of banjo and droning organ, Higgs breaks up…
