On our way back to Madrid, we’re glad to welcome on board one of those tireless music activists on the national scene, Redwan Chakrani (@redwan). Like many of us, he embarked on the electronic universe as an eager clubber in his hometown Barcelona in the early 2000s and has not stopped loving music since then. Nowadays he’s one of the heads of Trauma (@trauma-collective), a collective and label focused on the most authentic versions of leftfield techno. Yet, on this occasion, he offers a top-of-the-line electro selection bringing classics and present-day tracks together, from a sentimental approach to a more mental one. Enjoy it!

Match Box

“Business in the front, party in the back” describes the eclectic releases and DJ sets of Bastiaan Van Berkel and Luuk Bergervoet, the Amsterdam-based duo Match Box. First developing their musical abilities when they were amorous teenagers, the pair reconnected at a party as adults and eventually discovered they both shared a passion for being jokesters and making music in many forms. Their output draws inspiration from rave, big beat, and 90s house motifs while still retaining a very modern and current sound. Releasing their debut EP in 2020, Match Box has put out a steady stream of music and has started gaining international recognition, in fact, Job Jobse featured their song “Quantum Transients” on his 2022 Essential Mix. When they’re not in the studio, you can find them playing clubs across the UK and EU, at their monthly residency with Operator - Radio, or at their own event series Vuemer.

Aria Series 45th episode presents: EKATA.

London based Dj/Producer EKATA is self-described as genre and sound obsessive. She has built a reputation as a huge advocate for Electro and a creator of a dark and warped experience. Her sound best personifies ominous grooves and obvious sci-fi fixations which embody her carefully picked selections and the journey she takes you on. 


EKATA has just announced her debut release on 'planet destroyed' - a VA by AVOIDANT, the Electro sister label of Soma records due for release on the 5th of Dec 2022.

Other artists featured on the same VA are long standing top tier artists such as Marcel dettman, Slam, terrestrial Access Network + many more. 


EKATA has also just recently been selected along with a couple of other artists as one of the new faces of the biggest music institution in the world - TRESOR in Berlin, which saw her play in the prestigious cage in September 2022. 

Aswell as many gigs in Berlin this year, she has just joined leiden agency in France so has an exciting 2023 in the pipeline.


You can catch EKATA this Friday the 2nd on HöR in Berlin for the Avoidant showcase with Slam djs and Ngoni. Then in the evening she's closing crack bellmer for fan fiction.

ARIA SERIES [045]-EKATA

LNS and DJ Sotofett return to Tresor Records with The Reformer EP. This new record moves forward with a crystal clear, direct and controlled output, leaving their debut album "Sputters" as an end-mark of a sonic era. Here they evolve into a topography full of contrasts, where harsh digital artefacts, scanner sounds, and vocoder voices cast melodic colors across cold landscapes of club-ready electro. 

"Reform" plunges deep into an electro sound splintered by binary bits and submerged pads that beckon a serene melody, which echoes and loops to entangle with mutant voices, noises and buzzes. "Plexistorm" leads with synthesized strings and arpeggiated acidic bleeps until a thick bass emerges, sounding almost like a long-lost Analord record. Heavily shapeshifting with effects processing, it proves primitive movements in dubbing are the perfect counterpart to this precise electro sound. With "Electric Terraforming", the duo uncover charged energy sources required for life on another planet, as broad synth pads and memorable vocoder harmonies draw this earworm to a close. Mighty washes of dub rule on "909 The Controller" as a skipping beat invites a slow, rippling melody and percolating reverberated synths. 

The vinyl record has significantly different sonics to the digital release, and, exclusively, each side ends in a locked groove produced by DJ Sotofett.
