I don't often get sad when someone I don't know and have never met passes away, but in the case of Nathan Coles I felt, probably like many people, that I got a glimpse of him through his music.

This podcast/mix series wouldn't exist without his influence; from its name "Kitchen Spasm" , and to me being inspired by the original tech house  records on Wiggle, Surreal, Eukahouse, Swag etc. which were all seemingly produced by the same few people, Nathan being one of them, using various aliases. I always thought it was funny, which is why most of the mixes on Kitchen Spasm are me under silly aliases.

The original tech house sound remains one of my favourites to this day, the fun and the energy it contains is like nothing else. Like all musicians Nathan Coles will live on through his music, I wanted to put together a mix that showcased some of that music. A  large percentage of my tech house collection has Nathan Coles name attached to it some way, I don't want to diminish the work of the other producers involved in making these tracks, they are all equally brilliant to my ears, but ultimately today, this is a tribute to Nathan Coles, made up from the sound and records helped create.
