With this record, The Como Mamas join forces with the boys of Menahan Street Band (billed pseudonymously here as The Radiant Rhythm Band) to lay bare the funkier side of gospel music. 

“The rhythms we all play were already right there in their vocals,” explains drummer Homer Steinweiss, “so it felt natural to lay down the grooves behind them.” Thomas “T-N-T” Brenneck, the up-and-coming producer who brought us both Menahan Street Band and Charles Bradley, presided over the collaboration, which took place in the old Dunham Studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

This is Nude’s first EP and it means as much as it means to us than it means to him.
He just started this new life project and we feel like this is one of these guys with a purpose, and true forte. This is just his first step into his musical production career and we feel like it deserves to be recongnised.

“No Air” is as deep and as it is refreshing. There are new and old school vibes while listening to these tracks. 
Somehow you can relate to these beats because the old-school rap and RnB influences are so appealingly mixed with those guitars and beats, but it’s got this juicy and exhuming sense to it.
As you might have guessed, the 90’s is a big part of Nude’s influences because, as he puts it, he “love(s) the emotions it exudes”. 

Mixed with his own experiences, you get ambient samples of skate sessions with his friends and the sound of slamming skateboarding tricks in his tracks. Skating is his second biggest passion (after music) and it allowed him to build himself as a man as well as an artist. 

“This is a real culture, and I think these two things are closely related, skateboarding and music.”
Travelling from the intimate and then communicating with those around us.

Inside and out.
These two things change the visions that we may have of life, the music that was in our ears can change the perception of any landscape, and skate lets people have fun with all the urban elements in our surroundings. 
Taking possession of your environment and shaping it to your will, that's the idea behind this EP. 

“Go forward, never look back.”
That's basically the visions of Nude at the moment and this EP is his way of giving us the elixir of his actual feelings towards life: what it is, was and should be in all his free, eccentric, nostalgic and yet fresh style.

so on the hottest day of the year I decided to sit down and actually do some work. As of now you may have realized to expect the unexpected from Intimate Friends. We will continue to roam the fields of everything soulful left and right.

I've made other people buy Reginald Omas Mamode IV's records on Five easy Pieces before because I am so in love with his Dilla style, drunken Hip Hop snippets. Now I am super happy to release this almost Album size 8 Track EP of him. All Together. We haven't really talked about what the title means to him but for me it's community. It's flexing his muscles. Headnodding collages of beautiful athmospheres.

The final release is due August 3rd. If you feel these summery vibes as much as we do, please help us spread the word. Play it, chart it, talk abut it.

Truth be told, the Deadbeats aren't much to write home about. Their sample-and-cycle pseudo downtempo comes across as a "chilled" take on Armand Van Helden's _Sampleslaya_ That is, the more obnoxious bits of hip hop looped ad nauseum. "Got It Goin' On" fits this mold well, it's not terribly good, not terribly interesting, and forgotten very quickly. That is, except for the Aim mix, which is an absolute corker. It manages to be groovy, sexy, uplifting and poppy, without sounding cheesy or contrived. The female vox are processed just right and sends shivers down one's spine. A similar effect turns the formally-obnoxious male rap into a blissful counterpart. The instrumental part of the track could stand quite well on its own, but blends the whole song into a perfect bit of downtempo pop. When compared to the uninspiring original, it is truly amazing just how much funk, soul and emotion is present in the Aim mix. Definitely on my list of top ten chillout tracks.
