We’re back for DR096, this time with techie banger Everglide, from Odonbat, supported by a great uplifting remix from the one and only Touchstone.

The original kicks off with a hint of whats to come with little techie gaps and tension builds as plucks filter in to keep the atmosphere slowly rising towards the break. Cinematic fx and drums take it to the pad drop which is filled with emotion with strings breakbeat style percussion. The melody starts to build slowly with lovely chord progressions that bring you towards the main build. As it builds people will be reaching for the sky, before the drop kicks in... and what a drop.... this is one of those tunes you expect to do one thing on the drop and it does completely the opposite, with a dark techie drop that would drive clubbers mental with the driving bass and sharp edgy sounds, before dropping back into the main melody to give this an uplifting end. A tune of many personalities, this cracking original is definitely one for the club!

On remix duties Touchstone does, well, what Touchstone does. If meaty kicks and rolling basslines do it for you then you will love this. Filled with textures and atmosphere this remix build gradually with the melody and pads that fully immerse you into the track, making you want to close your eyes and feel the emotions run through you. Taking you into the break the pads create a real feeling of space, before the melody filters in with lovely key change changes and feeling to keep lifting the tune up to its pure trance climax. As it drop back in fully the keys, pads and melody work perfectly together to give this tune a real feel good feeling. For people who like their trance pure, atmospheric and full of emotion this is the remix for you. Another quality remix from that man Touchstone.

The first time a heard a trance songs I think I was about 10 years old, so that about 19 years ago right now. I think it was one of the Rank 1 Anthems for one of the Sensation White events in Amsterdam. I heard it on the Dutch TV channel in I think it was their weekly top 40. All I could think at that time, what a terrible music as I was much more into what was called mainstream pop music back then. 

 It wasn’t untill Armin van Buuren released his album Imagine and started his Armin Only: Imagine World Tour that really got my mind set on trance music. I think I watched the live registration over 20 times on DVD this is also true voor Live DVD of Armin Only: Mirage. I ready for minsblow of the spectular show die hij keer op keer neer zet, a show that twinkled a my senses.

But the tracks back then that really kickstarted trance music for me were: Armin van Buuren vs. Sophie Ellis-Bextor - Not Giving Up On Love (Original Mix) and also Armin van Buuren pres. Gaia - Status Excessu D (ASOT 500 Anthem)(Original Mix). Soon after trance became the only music I would be listening to all day. Because within the trance genre there so many different subtypes of trance it keeps surprising every day k lk all from the more downtempo progressive trance, to the emotional vocal tracks, all the way to the uplifting bangers!! A few years ago I started digging online in search of the latest en most exclusives tracks, liveset and radioshows. For a couple of years I’ve been doing exactly that on SoundCloud. The playlists are updated at least weekly and are very variable from all the latest trance radio shows, trance tracks to the best livesets from the latest events and festivals.
