A Grey Lourie (Corythaixoides concolor) makes it's loud, almost humorous honking call while perched in an Acacia tree above a waterhole in the semi-arid savannah of Mmabolela Reserve, meanwhile Egyptian Geese (Alopochen aegyptiaca) softly bark, dove's flutter and wasps quietly buzz around the flowering tree.
Recorded around 7am on the 20th of November, 2014 in Mmabolela Reserve, Limpopo South Africa.
Recording made during the 'Sonic Mmabolela' residency organized by Francisco Lopez and James Webb.

This wonderful little bird with a voice so strong, King of the birds as told in old stories who flew higher than any other bird because it rode on the back of an eagle. The druidic bird of prophesy.
