Our last collected cast for this year comes with a bunch of deep and melodic down tempo sounds. Nico is an absolute expert in creating powerfull DJ sets. Through his work with his own label @katahaifisch, he has a big pool of inspiring artists and tracks wich he always use thoughtful and careful. 

We´re very happy to welcome Nico in our little podcast family.

We´ll also want to say thank you guys for you loyalty and your support during the last year. We´ll be back soon in january with some great new acts!

The Valley of the Butterflies

The jewel of Paros can be found just 7 kilometers from Parikia, near the monastery of Agios Arsenios, and is never experienced by the hordes of tourists that visit the island in August. The Valley of the Butterflies, a unique natural site on Paros, with dense vegetation: cypress trees, ivy covered plane trees, wild olive and other fruit trees and a natural well.

This environment comprises a rare biotope for Jersey Tiger Moth butterflies, which can be seen perched in large numbers on the tree trunks. The butterflies of Paros are known for their wonderful coloring (brown-black with yellowish extremities and bright red wings) and appear from late May to late July, disappear in August and reappear in September. The disappearance is due to the females seeking places to lay their eggs and die. The caterpillars emerge from the eggs in October and transform into butterflies in May. They sit upon the tree trunks from June to August, and mate in August, continuing the cycle of rebirth.

A small admittance fee is charged at the entrance of the valley, and visitors are advised to keep as quiet as possible so as not to startle the beautiful inhabitants of the forest and force them to consume the energy that they require to complete their mission.

𝗜 𝗔𝗠 𝗕𝗢𝗛𝗢 by Gewagt & Maßgeschneidert

On this glorious morning in July, Hekske - the little witch - woke up at the first sunlight.  Falke – the 10-year old witch apprentice – was already awake and preparing their morning tea with the help of a family of squirrels.  The girls sensed that it would be a very hot day, so they decided to make use of the cool morning temperatures to make their daily inspection round of the forest.  After completing the inspection, Hekske suddenly felt the urge  to fly.  This was quite unusual as witches generally only fly on full moon days to participate in their monthly coven.  Even more strangely, Falke also felt the urge to fly, while she’s still too young to participate in witch covens.  
Anyway, the girls surrendered to their deeper instincts and took off from the central clearing.  They knew they would reach their destination simply by following their inner compass.  The witches flew in southeastern direction under a sky-blue sky.  It soon became clear that this part of Europe was also in the grip of a heat wave.  They flew over ever higher hills and even saw the snow-capped mountain peaks of the Styrian Alps.  Then the girls sensed they had reached their destination and gently touched down on a green meadow full of purple flowers, where they were warmly welcomed by a group of witches.  It quickly became clear that the other witches came from all over Europe and the Middle East.  After the arrival of the last witch, the women went to a little river.  It was so hot that all witches spontaneously slipped out of their white dresses and waded into the crystal-clear water, which was really cold as this river came straight from a glacier.
Then the witches let themselves go with flow and lazily drifted downstream until they reached a field of sunflowers.  They got out of the water and searched their way through the sunflower labyrinth, until they found a big round granite altar in the middle of the field.  Lots of mysterious symbols were carved in the altar, which was obviously dedicated to the sun.  And talking about the sun… the heat was almost unbearable and – as they always live in the shadow of the trees – both Hekske and Falke were not used to such strong sunlight. They were quite worried that their delicate skin would soon get seriously burned.  Luckily, there was a witch who held a small flacon with a mysterious liquid.  She gently rubbed it on the pale white skin of Hekske and Falke. It was home-made sunscreen which she had made according to an age-old recipe of natural ingredients.
A little later, all witches aligned in a circle around the stone altar, holding hands.  Hekske felt an intensely warm energy flowing through her hands and arms, passing through her heart chakra.  The energy got stronger and stronger, and suddenly a yellow orb appeared above the altar. Its light gradually became so intense she couldn’t keep her eyes open.  She felt the insanely powerful rays, and her hair was blown backwards from the wind which seemed to originate from the shining orb.  Meanwhile the temperature kept on rising until it became almost unbearable.  And strangely, the little witch had the feeling that there was a small shining orb inside her solar plexus.
And just before the temperature became really unbearable, she felt a cool wind blowing through her long brown hair, while the shining orb faded away.  The witches could open their eyes again and started to giggle.  Soon the whole group was giggling and no one could tell why.  Then all witches remembered the little river and they all ran through the sunflowers to take a dive in the crystal-clear water.  The little witch enjoyed the soothing feeling of the ice-cold water on her skin.  Her whole body slowly cooled down, except her solar plexus which continued to emit a pleasant warm glow.  Never before had she felt so energized…

Sonniges Gemüt

Die Sonne scheint unbekümmert und verspielt durch die Glasfront des Büros herein. Sie weckt in mir die Sehnsucht nach einem weißen Sandstrand und einem eisgekühlten Cocktail. Wenn ich meine Augen schließe, sehe ich die Szenerie so deutlich vor mir, als würde ich sie von einer bequemen Liege heraus genießen. Wenn ich meine Augen öffne, lacht mir nur der Computer Monitor entgegen. Dieser Anblick ist nicht mal halb so schön wie sich sanft im Wind wiegende Palmen, ist jedoch ein Anfang. Ich aktivere die Suchmaschine meines Vertrauens und beginne mit dem recherchieren. Auf meinem Weg durch die Weiten des Internets, entdecke ich allerhand schöner Orte und Sehenswürdigkeiten. Ein potenzielles Reiseziel jagt das nächste und jedes Einzelne sieht verlockend einladend aus. Ein Plan nimmt vor meinem geistigen Auge gestalt an. Ich will in den Süden, ans Meer und in tropische Gefilde reisen. Ich will endlich wieder eine stress- und sorgenbefreite Zeit und ganz in Ruhe das Leben und meine Existenz genießen. So schwer kann die Realisierung eines solchen Unterfangens ja nicht sein. Die Idee ist geboren, jetzt muss nur noch die Umsetzung folgen …

Der Podcast von R3NATA ist emotionsgeladen und treibend zugleich. In ihrem Set präsentiert sie sowohl wohlvertraute Schmuckstücke, als auch neuere Exemplare der gesetzten elektronischen Musik. Unsere Nr. 243 kommt heute von San Miguel, der durch seine unzähligen, geschichtsartigen Sets und Produktionen über die nationalen Grenzen bekannt ist. Schließlich bewegt sich sein verspielter, gar schon entspannter Sound irgendwo zwischen Traum und Tanz, der sich deutlich von der der Masse abhebt. Dabei zeigt er eine große Vorliebe für organische Tracks. Hier ein Streicher, da eine verzaubernde orientalische Stimme, ja das passt. Nicht umsonst ist Oli aka San Miguel ein gefragter Künstler. Dabei kann er mehr als nur Chillout, wie er mit seinem Set eindrucksvoll zeigt. Neben dem Musizieren ist er auch Mitglied und Gründer des bekannten Labels https://soundcloud.com/monada-project, welches wohl jeder von euch kennen sollte. Zumindest all diejenigen, die sich für organischen Downtempo interessieren.

Das eingespielte Set ist eine herrlich ‚afterhoureske‘ Reise ins Dickicht der melodischen und verträumten elektronischen Musik geworden. Angereichert mit einem Schuss an Deepnes und Extase, verleiht er der Aufnahme eine ungewohnte Tiefe und Verbindlichkeit, die kaum einen Fuß ruhig stehen lässt. Zudem spart er auch nicht an einer Menge an verschickten Momenten, die auf keiner After fehlen sollten. Wie zum Beispiel ab Minute 30. Einfach nur großartig. Zugleich behält das Set aber über weite Teile der Aufnahme die entspannte Grundstimmung. Wohl auch wegen des durchgängig reduzierten Tempos, welches die jeweiligen Tracks erst zur ‘wahren‘Entfaltung kommen lassen. Ab der Mitte schraubt aber San Miguel kontinuierlich an dem Bpm Regler und erhöht von Lied zu Lied den Druck. Er macht es sich sprichwörtlich auf der Tanzfläche gemütlich und will dann auch nicht mehr fort. Absolut nachvollziehbar, aber auch überraschend, denn damit haben wir tatsächlich nicht gerechnet. Spaß macht es aber trotzdem ungemein, den die Tracks sind absolut stimmig aneinandergereiht und verleihen der Eingangs beschreibenden Dringlichkeit enormen Auftrieb, die bis zum Ende erhalten bleibt.

Egal ob Hypnose, Tanz oder pure Emotionalität, es erwartet euch definitiv eine durchweg kohärente Geschichte durch Olis Sounduniversum der Afterhour. Definitiv Musik, die man quasi zu jedem Anlass hören und erfahren kann. 

Wir danken dir vielmals Oli für dieses besondere Set. Sinnlich umwerfend und unverschämt gut. Wenn Unikat, dann Hier. Chapeu.

Bei diesem ungewöhnlich ausgedehnten KataHaifisch Podcast handelt es sich um ein Live-Recording von einer Mysticcreatures Tanzveranstaltung. Am 24.09.2022 wurden die beiden Musikschaffenden firgun & Heyoka zu einer Party der Berliner VA-Reihe eingeladen. Insgesamt 4 Stunden und 20 Minuten spielten sich die beiden in die Herzen und das Gedächtnis der Gäste. Bei einer solch umfassenden Reise durch die Sphären des Downtempo Genres ist musikalisch gesehen alles in diesem Set enthalten. Passagenweise wird es aufbrausend und energetisch, dann mal wieder nachdenklich und melancholisch. Zeitweise wandelt sich die Stimmung hin zu einer kindergleichen Leichtigkeit und wohlwollenden Unbeschwertheit.

In diesem Podcast wird alles Geboten und ist für jeden was dabei. Dankeschön <3

Getting us back to the beginning energies of mankind, thus "primordial" energy. A exploration of the heart and soul and mind and body to find what makes us connected since the very beginning of mankind. What do we share as human beings and various tribes? This energy empowers and also heals us to the core. It is the life force, so the mix will have that original life force and be share in the way of all stories of the ancient storytelling oral tradition, which make up true history that is passed down from generation to generation.

Dirlasion and Desert Raven (@desertravenmusic):  Dirlasion is a good friend and spiritual brother to Desert Raven, the mystical DJ-producer and founder of The Odyssey, Primordial Grooves, Rakhma, and Mystical Vision music collectives.  Dirlasion is currently helping Desert Raven, through his biggest mission yet, in the Mystical Vision community, cultivate a strong, spiritually-centered music community based on mysticism, healing, honest conversations among members of society, and a deeper journey in life, including the search for God, particularly in music.  Desert Raven and Dirlasion both believe that electronic music absolutely has room for their type of deeper, spiritually-focused music and that mystical vision is needed to help discern the world around us and convey a more lasting and powerful message of love.
