Jakobin is the solo project of DJ and producer Georg Nadler. Growing up in the 90s in rural upper Austria, Georg spent his time skateboarding and listening to lots of hip hop before witnessing the halcyon days of the Vienna downbeat era and later being introduced to Austrias club culture. Pursuing his growing passion for collecting vinyl, Georg started spinning his first records in the notorious „Kijani“ in Linz. There he invited Djs like the Vienna Scientists or the one and only Mr. Slack Hippy. After moving to Vienna, Georg had a two year residency alongside future label mate Simon Lebon in the Donau Techno, Vienna’s first adress for Techno music back then. While his gigs at the „Donau Techno“ helped him explore the deeper shades of techno, acid and electro, he also began spinning disco and house records with his long time friend Dominik Huber. Quickly getting immersed in Viennas electronic music scene, the duo started producing and DJing under the Moniker Jakobin & Domino and became founding members of Luv Shack Records in 2011. After a number of successful releases on Luv Shack and several EPs for the legendary Chicago label Large Records, Jakobin & Domino became a staple in the Viennese house scene and played several gigs in Berlin, Paris or Geneva. Recently he also teamed up with his other longtime friend and Artist Peletronic, releasing EPs on Fortunea Records and Hungarian Hot Wax under the Jakobin & Peletronic moniker. Jakobins sound is a testament to years of open minded record collecting, encompassing influences from downbeat, hip hop, techno, disco, house, funk, afro and jazz. His growing collection of analog gear also helped shape his productions as of late, and so it comes as no surprise that his first solo track was picked up by the highly acclaimed Futureboogie recordings in 2020.

Lumberjacks In Hell draft in a sublime cast of sympathetic operators for a second volume of From Hell With Love, providing you with eight perfectly formed tracks that straddle the divide between cosy, home-friendly house and dancefloor delectation. Laville's moody vocal turn kicks the record off in style on Austin Ato's 'Control', while Waajeed works his broken beat magic on 'What You Know'. Dan Only returns for his third release on Dirt Crew Recordings with his Deciduous Dubs EP. This release sees the Toronto-native continuing his journey into new musical territories, leaving behind the past and rebuilding his framework from scratch. Armed with Akai Samplers, 90s Romplers and some tried and true Roland classics, this release explores sounds that were informed by Dubstep, Hardcore, House and Techno.

The release opens with “Gateway Shuffle”. The half-time drums and breakbeats link it back to early dubstep and reinforce the ghostly harmonies that glide throughout. Warping basses, deep subs and distant voices welcome you into the sonic world of this release.

“Terraforming” gives you hope in the unknown. The digital pads wash in as the meandering melodies invite you in to take a leap of faith out into the open. A deep sub forms among the all familiar four-on-the-floor kick patterns, providing the foundation needed to lose yourself in groove. By the end, you’re dancing across new ground in a trance-like state.

“It’s Inside You” gets to the root of it all. Stripped back and ever-evolving, the bouncing bass line and shapeshifting landscape contorts around you as this techno groover pummels forward. This one is heady and contemplative and all about self-discovery on the dance floor.

We end our trip with “Macrodose”. Diving through twisting basses and breakbeat science, you’re taken deeper and deeper into the rabbit hole, much farther than you anticipated. There’s a stark contrast between the reality you once knew and the one you are now in. If you can push through the peak you’ll be welcomed by a euphoric afterglow and strong sense of clarity.
