It is with great pride and pleasure that we bring in this month of March the dear Sol for #16 edition of Entre Quatro Paredes. Our first international guest and we couldn't be happier with this divine mix sent to us. Sol is an expert record digger in a wide spectrum of Daegu, South Korea. Her research mainly focuses on music from the 90s, but also includes Balearic sounds. Sol is responsible for running Daon Radio, and hopes that her music communication will take place with a positive mindset around the world. Sit back and relax with the aural massage that our dear friend has prepared for us this week.

É com grande orgulho e prazer que trazemos neste mês de Março a querida Sol para #16 edição do Entre Quatro Paredes. Nossa primeira convidada internacional e não poderíamos estarmos mais contentes com este mix divino que nos foi enviado. Sol é uma exímia garimpadora de discos em um amplo espectro de Daegu, Coreia do Sul. Tem em suas pesquisas principalmente músicas dos anos 90, porém regada de sons balearicos. Sol é responsável pela direção da Daon Rádio, e espera que a sua comunicação musical tenha lugar com uma mentalidade positiva em todo o mundo. Sentem e relaxem com a massagem auditiva que nossa querida amiga nos preparou para esta semana.

This is part of a restored and remastered mix originally recorded one evening at The Sense Bar back in 2011. The Sense Bar was a lounge bar in downtown Oslo, known for its intimate atmosphere, superb cocktails and fantastic sound system (a Funktion-One setup if I remember correctly). I had the pleasure of playing at this cosy venue on several occasions during a particularly busy live schedule around 2010-2011. Sadly, The Sense Bar closed its doors in 2015. Mixtape From The Sense Bar 2011

Ah, sweet sweet summer sun. We better enjoy it all before it gets too unbearably hot, right? A good sunrise is even better when it happens across the sea and when the impending new day isn’t packed with work or other commitments - and this new Messy Mix is dedicated to that special feeling. To capture it I asked Leipzig-based DJ and music lover @giliii who I first met during a party of our mutual friends @stolenmoneyposse and whose sets I’ve been enjoying a lot since then.

However, I quickly noticed that Gili is not just about nice house bangers but has an eclectic musical taste. And the timing for my message to her couldn’t have been better as it collided with her trip to beautiful Sardinia and that elated feeling that you just get when you have just arrived in a beautiful place and know that you will stay there for the next few days. The result is a mixtape that is closely connected to her vacation experience and Gilis thinking and feeling there as she explains:

“With the mix, I wanted to capture the feeling of being in a place where really none of what matters at home should matter there. It's about letting go and yet taking it with you, about arriving and leaving, about being and engaging. The mix musically describes the journey from the slow awakening and getting up, from going out, from the first coffee, the first conversations, the first rays of sunshine, the first laughter, from then getting quite tired again - all in all from the wonderful first hour of a day on vacation in Sardinia.”

The smooth selection includes a few personal favourites like Kelela, Kadhja Bonet, Fatima Al Qadiri but also lots of artists I didn’t know so far like Yaya Bey  or Twit One. I always love to discover new stuff through these mixes and I hope you’ll do. But most of it I hope you’ll have a great time with this sensual soundtrack for the upcoming summer days. I surely will!
