Time to highlight my winter home, Singapore. This was taken during the www.super0.sg festival while I stayed at Changi Beach Park, Singapore. Another collection of records I found whilst diggin through the many warehouses of 2nd hand record shops spread across this City State.  This country is truly beautiful for it's landscape and food. Dea always digs deep and is a resident at Bali's most forward thinking music program Sun Down Circle at Potato head Beach Club. His style has already led to tours around Asia and to Europe where he has played in Ibiza, at festivals like Gilles Peterson's World Wide festival and at Love International in Croatia.

Every mix with Dea is a journey into his love of music and his record collection.

Bside Incoming: Afrobot

We can’t wait to share this episode with you, over an hour of hidden Bside gems from Afrobot’s incredible vinyl collection.

He’s a crate digger in the truest sense of the term, a record collector with an insatiable taste for the unknown exotic, a purveyor of rare treasures from across the globe.
His selections always strive to push musical boundaries while maintaining a warm feeling of the familiar, a hair raising hybrid of styles: 

“The more confusing the better: a krautrock song with traditional ethnic instruments that sounds like an African record; that Nigerian boogie or Turkish disco track that are comparable to an American production and that Bollywood break that is a Kraftwerk copy. In music people have always liked to travel…”

As a DJ for the last 25 years, Afrobot has been sharing his discoveries with the lucky listeners on Rotterdam's dance floors and Red Light Radio air waves. But in the last 5 years his musical journey has taken him further afield; from Dusseldorf’s Salon Des Amateurs to Budapest, from Marakech’s Atlas Electronic to Minimuzikhol in Istanbul, Belgrade’s Klub 20/44 and the Croatian festivals of Dekmantel Selectors and Goulash Disko.

Here’s an episode of purist Bside philosophy: mostly from the ‘other side’ of 7” singles, and tracks that are “different or confronting”; alternative, moody, and ever-engaging.

Not only is Afrobot an excellent DJ and collector, he runs the ever growing label Afrobotic Musicology, with 17 releases each delving into different corners of the globe with different moods. -
