Paradise Palms goes from strength to strength as it forges new paths through 2017. The dive bar and venue turned vinyl record store & label recently announced its second release in the form of a digi-single by Parisian Art-Noir experimentalists "Hey Mother Death", with their third release taking the form of a dance floor oriented 12” of specially curated remixes for Record Store Day 2017. This limited pressing includes remixes by fourprogressive new dance artists prominent in Edinburgh & Glasgow. Brand new imprint @happycamperrecords (founded by Britta Arnold, unders and Noraj Cue) drops new single "Time To Waste" as their sophomore release (pre-order via this link: www.beatport.com/label/happy-camper-records/66562) courtesy of Bar25 legend, KaterBlau resident and Berlin mainstay @jake-basker. The American-born singer/dj/producer has been in Germany long enough now to understand the art of making an <em>"Ohrwurm"</em> (=earworm) - "Time To Waste" is one of those tunes that keeps resonating inside your head long after you've heard it. With its thumping beat, catchy vocals and roaring synthline, it's bound to set any dancefloor ablaze.

Although many believe "Time To Waste" is a love song, Jake actually wrote it for his friends: 

<em>"I was at Kater one morning, getting tired of the cyclicality of raving, thinking I really ought to go home and kiss my wife, take care of my kids, get some sleep, get my life together and get some music done. Some friends wanted me to stay and keep dancing. I was like: 'If I had any time to waste, I'd waste it with you. But I don't so… Bye!'"</em>

Ripperton's 'Niwa' album has without doubt been one of the highlight releases of 2010, and continues to impress and surprise with each and every remix EP. Having already been treated to the wonderful revisions of 'Random Violence' (Joris Voorn) and 'Leonor's Lanugo' (Radio Slave), the Swiss 
producer continues to enthrall with his latest remix invitations... 

Being presented with the tools to create, does indeed give you a head start. However it is the vision, and skill to be able to realize it, that sets great producers apart. To say we have been presented with two outstanding revisions falls short of doing them justice, for French House legend I:Cube ('At Peace') and Berlin based producer Mark August ('The Sandbox'), have created two, quite outrageously brilliant masterpieces.

Happy to welcome Motel77 not only to the series but also to the label, as they've done a killer remix that will be included on the next Ep - out very soon.

Thoma Cher & Charp teamed up last year to form Motel77, a dark disco act 'for those who like to keep their leather jacket on the dance floor', as quoted in Trax Magazine.

After an Ep on Nein and another on La Dame Noir, these two guys have become ones to keep an eye on, not only as producers but also as Dj's, since they've been djing in Shanhgai for over a decade now, something we could tell after listening to the mix they sent us, a perfect balance between disco, rock, dark and light.

Our Diversions series explores the diverse processes and influences that manifest during the remix process. Each release presents fresh takes on the label’s original productions by both XYZ stalwarts and newcomers alike. This series is a chance to connect artists from across the musical spectrum in the pursuit of unique and unexpected tracks.

For the second release in the Diversions series, XYZ has collected an eclectic mix of producers dripping with quality. Daniel Bortz is a unique figure in the underground scene, gliding under the radar past trends and genre boundaries to a point where he is one of the most respected artists in the game. A stalwart on the esteemed Permanent Vacation, Bortz has also graces enigmatic labels such as Innervisions, Suol, and Watergate. Through collaborations with Acid Pauli and remixes of James Blake, Bortz remains impossible to categorize.

Alejandro Mosso’s Caravan caught the ear of Bortz, who’s laid a stiff rhythm and acid-vibe to percussive groover. Through keeping the original’s minimal-oriented kick, the Caravan remix is primed for dark rooms with crisp sound.
