DJs are a nomadic people. Drifting between venues, airports and hotel rooms, they're always on the hunt for new music and clubbing activity. They are, indeed, the Bohemians of the 21st Century. Or as Britta Arnold, unders and Noraj Cue would call them: Happy Campers. 

The sophomore release for their brand new imprint Happy Camper Records comes from Bar25 legend, KaterBlau resident and Berlin mainstay Jake The Rapper. The American-born singer/dj/producer has been in Germany long enough now to understand the art of making an Ohrwurm. 'Time To Waste' is one of those tunes that keeps resonating inside your head long after you've heard it. With its thumping beat, catchy vocals and roaring synthline, it's bound to set any dancefloor ablaze. 

Although many believe 'Time To Waste' is a love song, Jake actually wrote it for his friends: "I was at Kater one morning, getting tired of the cyclicality of raving, thinking I really ought to go home and kiss my wife, take care of my kids, get some sleep, get my life together and get some music done. Some friends wanted me to stay and keep dancing. I was like: 'If I had any time to waste, I'd waste it with you. But I don't so… Bye!'" 

As is custom in the Happy Camper family, a string of befriended producers have given their own interpretations to the original. In dOP's remix, a mesmerizing synth that sounds a lot like a harmonica almost gives it a chanson feel, were it not for its relentless bassline and acid bleeps. Skilfully fucking up the vocals beyond recognition, Iories takes a more slow-burning and epic approach with his Dystopian Sundown mix. And Signal Flow & Pattern Drama aim for that end of the night magic with an epic stomper of a remix. Dancefloor detonation guaranteed.

Tripmastaz AKA Andrew Guyvoronsky debuts for Cadenza Lab with the ‘Blossomz’ single; a trio of heady club cuts that typifies his hypnotising house sound and knack for the perfect groove. 

Originating from Moscow’s music scene, and slowly emerging as one of the more renowned Russian producers to influence global labels, Andrew has released music for Richie Hawtin’s Minus imprint, DJ Sneak’s own Magnetic Records, as well as other appearances on Cécille Records, Desolat and Shanti, all proving fantastic platforms for his minimal sound and guided musical expressions. 

Aside from his productions, Tripmastaz who runs his own label, 74 Records, has also held a residency at the impressive rooftop party Techno Gipsy since 2013, a further accreditation to his career as a Producer and DJ. With an illustrious remix career to match, collaborations with DJ Sneak have pushed him toward close affiliations with the House Gangster Movement and the funky side of house music so clearly important to his work. 

Lead track, ‘Blossomz’, opts for a captivating percussive groove, whilst vocal samples are put through the wormhole to create rhythmic effects; fans of Mountain People/Sasha Dive will lap up this vibe for sure.  ‘Sublimely Relieved (Cuban Linx)’ raises the energy level somewhat; a snaking bassline slithers around the crisp drum pattern seductively, as light keys sprinkle over the dubby house sound.  A ‘Bass Dub’ is also offered up, offering an alternate take to round off the release with added weight.

After a successful release on East End Dubs' Eastenderz label, Viceversa returns to his own imprint with a two-track EP titled 'Fourfourone/Fourfourtwo'.

With the release set to drop in January, Trommel has the premiere of B-side FourFourTwo.

You don't want to meet Jack The Ripper when going camping but you surely should keep your ears open when American artist Jake The Rapper borrows his voice for a release that has the potential to lure you into the underground. 'Time To Waste' in a Signal Flow & Pattern Drama remix  unites three striving artists from the US in one track who dedicate their musical approach to deep and left field oriented soundscapes that take an almost uplifting twist in the course of the track. Jake The Rapper's vocals, which are predominant in the original, play a subordinate role in the remix as the vocal snippets are merely used to accentuate the synth melody and guide the listener through this Italo Disco-ish influenced version. 'Time To Waste (Signal Flow & Pattern Drama Remix)' hence can be seen as a homage to both: the early disco house sound or the revival of it in the mid noughties. Either way it's electronic music with a message and identity.

Jake The Rappers 'Time To Waist' will be released March 2nd, 2018 on Happy Camper Records.
